HI, just checked and both my manifolds are cracked, delighted! lol. I have been sifting through every manifold thread i could find and it looks like the only options are

1) Welding
2) Newest Noble stainless manifolds
3) Allunox Ones

Any other options? Anyone had some custom made ones as the others seem a bit expensive for a manifold? I think someone in cyprus did?

Also i did read a thread before about someone drilling out part of the manifold with pics but cant find it, any help?

Just in a new house and not really got the money for noble/ just now so thinking about getting them welded with the support plates but worried about bits of manifold going into the turbos especially with a support plate not letting me see.

Also anyone got any details on uprated turbo brackets like allunox ones as it looks like them and some flexi joints after the turbo put less stress on the manifolds.

Thanks in advance

Allan

Oh and what are the dangers of using the car with broken manifolds apart from loss of power? Need to move it but not sure how long they have been cracked either? Just last time i was out i had some hesitation on boost, maybe this is due to the cracked manifolds or the turbos going thanks to bits of manifold in them? thanks, allan

As I've mentioned in other threads welding isn't worth it, I made that mistake and it cost me a pair of turbos and ended up having to buy the stainless manifolds anyway which are great but just make sure your support brackets are on and tight so they don't move, the my first one went because the bracket bolt came loose and was hanging free. do it once do it right.

THanks for the input guys, m600 you have mail, and thanks graham, best to go for new ones then! Any troubles on moving the car with split manifolds apart from loss in performance? THanks, allan

Hello, can you explain what the problem gave you welding? How did he destroy the turbos?
(or you remember the title of the topic where you wrote the problem I'm trying to find it)

Thanks!

Welding was just a waste of time, i had them welded by a specialist metal fab shop next to my work and the welds only lasted a few months, they broke again but then small fragments of metal went into the turbos and damaged them. would have saved me a few hundred quid to just buy the stainless manifolds in the first place.

welding up is a patch it... some just never crack, but once they start cracking they tend to re-crack even after welding up. really they need welding up inside and out which isn't exactly possible.

I drove for 5k with cracks in my front manifold... its a risk though as they manifolds get stupid hot and bits can flake off, after all thats why they are cracking.

The answer IMHO is flexis in the exhaust and new un-cracked manifolds.

Okay, understood, it's time to DIY

I have made myself a decat for my Boxercup

And a silencer for a friend, month later found in a magazine:

Now it's easier with OEM sample wink
