Getting to 475bhp in an M400
Discussion
Gents,
Looking to get some work done on the M400 given it's currently stock (bar the key upgrades of pump wiring etc).
Intention is for 475bhp with a proper exhaust. With some help from Dave at urban the shopping list looks like:
- Exhaust
- Pro-alloy intercooler
- Valve springs
- Injectors
- Re-map
Key component is the exhaust. Price limit for all the work is £4k, which leaves c.£2k to spend on the exhaust.
Thoughts appreciated on the best system with this budget (H&S, Urban, other?) and whether 475bhp is realistic with this set-up.
Cheers

550 bhp from standard m400 turbo's seems a bit optimitstic imho
has anybody done it ?
Yes, but not standard turbos though, they were T28's but with a bit of tinkering, sundance was running at 550bhp on T28's.has anybody done it ?
At 475bhp the torque should be able to be kept below 420lb/ft, if mapped by yellowshed, so clutch should not be a problem either as long as it is in good health.
if you keep torque down you should be ok reliable to 430ftlb... you can make much more torque than that though so your clutch is the restriction in the package you plan.
You need to search on exhaust threads as you say its been discussed loads... 2k will get you an entire system including cats and flexis... don't buy one that doesnt have flexis as its lack of these that contributes to the manifolds cracking.
