Hi guys, im having trouble starting my car.. power isn't getting to the fuel pump... fuel pump works ok as tested. I have checked the wiring all seems good up to the ecu plug... looks like its had a wiring upgrade done at some point... it did have a new ecu about a year ago fitted by jeatstream as there was a problem with it strarting then. Just thought someone might now if there are any other checks i need to do or a way of testing the ecu to see if its definetly faultly?
Failing that a new ecu again!
Does anyone know how the fuel pump is controlled is it the ecu?

One of the experts will no doubt be along soon - in the interim I'm pretty confident the ECU does control the fuel pump

Could be one of the fuses on the bulkhead for the pump, a dodgy relay or the crank sensor which tells the ecu when to send the spark before the ecu is at fault.

The first thing is to check and clean all fuses and relays to behind the drivers seat in the engine bay.

If it still doesn't work check the firing of the spark plug and the pulse on the injectors. Injectors are negative trigger!! If you have no fire or squirt it is probably the ECU!!

Apparently the MBE ECU is a little sensitive!!! Mine went a few months ago for no reason at all!!!

Just looked back through car service history looks like it had a new ecu in 2006 then another 1 in 2010. Have checked fuses and relays. Will see if I can get hold of jetstrem tomorow and see what they reckon. I noticed a second hand 1 on the noble parts off an R though. Not sure whether it will go in mine.

Years ago mine did this, it would bump start but nit fire from the starter... Was the ecu and needed a repair

Try push starting the car... Or run a wire briefly to the pump live to start the car and see if it runs withiut the wire once it's started!

Tried wire straight off battery to pump to start it, started up but cut out as soon as the wire was removed

Check the grounds, especially the ones that go to the same chassis grounding point where the battery negative attaches. I think there should be 4 terminals stacked up here - one off the battery, one off the body harness, and two off the engine/ecu harness.
