Advice needed on brake discs

I got a new set of grooved brake discs, genuine AP from the main dealer, after opening them up i have spotted one looks like it has had a knock.
On the outside edge it looks like somebody has literally hit it with a chisel, a small defect approx 2mm where it looks like it has been dropped on a sharp corner of something and has left a groove.
I dont think the brake pad will touch this area at it is right on the edge but i imagine it would take some force to create that damage.
Will it still be ok?
Could something like that ruin the entire disc?
Has anybody else installing new discs experienced a similar defect?
I am worried about putting it on the car to find out, as i imagine trying to run it in would void my right to exchange, but i have just shipped it to Cyprus and it is a pain to ship it back and wait for a replacement, so i dont want to send it back unnecessarily if it is nothing to worry about.
Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

I'd personally still send them the picture and ask their advice, what's the harm?
If you brake hard from 100 and it snaps into a dozen pieces, causing unthinkable damage to the car and anyone in or around it, at least you can say Graham thought it would be fine

My point was that all we've seen is a picture, you don't know if it's full of stress fractures and potentially dangerous. This isn't a wing mirror or a door handle we're talking about. Btw, it was in no way a pop at you personally, just that I think Chris should be reassured by the point of sale or manufacturer. Blu3R said:

I understand but there's nothing to say sending a picture to the supplier would get a more in depth response than what I gave. To find out if there are stress fractures the only way to find out is return the discs for inspection, ruling out sending them a picture. 
It's a matter of what the person is comfortable with based on their knowledge of the product. I'd never return a normal steel disc like that, (I had one with the same dink on my RS6) however I'd return a carbon ceramic disc with a dink without questioning it.
thanks for the advice, i use EBc pads and i have noticed they cover the entire disc area, so it appears it will foul the pad, so i am going to file it down and bang it on.
I was suprised it has gone so smoothly tbh, i was expecting it to be a pain to get the bell off but i was lucky in that all the nuts cracked quite easily.

+1--nothing at all to worry about on a steel/cast iron disk, IMO, since they are not hardened or highly stressed components. It's an entirely different matter when dealing with carbon ceramic. It's a matter of what the person is comfortable with based on their knowledge of the product.
