Formula Renault in F4 test and race

hey guys,
thought i'd let you know how i got on at Snetterton in the F4 race at Snetterton the other week.
Well testing was tough with a car problem. it turned out the be a dodgy earth on the map sensor. what i meant to the car was full throttle was fine, and the car was bloody fast (about 200 bhp and 540kg with me in it!), but any other throttle position the car 'bunny hopped' which was terrible in the corners. you couldn't balance the car on the throttle at all.
I managed to spin 3 times while trying to get to grips with the car, never leaving the track may i add :-)
with that problem sorted i had one good session at the end of the day.
qualifying went really well and i managed 5th which i was really pleased with for a first outing.
race 1 had a furious start with me nearly jumping into 3rd place off the line. the gap i went for started to close and i had to give up on it, not something i would have done in the MR2 but open wheel cars are a different story wheel to wheel! holding my position at the end of lap one after swapping places 3 times with last years champion was my highlight! it was intense. was running fairly well and on lap 5 the car got stuck in 3rd gear and i had to retire.
normally i would have been devastated however i'd had such a good few laps i was fairly content.
race 2 lasted even less time with the car getting stuck in gear again on lap 3. i started this race 9th (not sure how they worked that grid out) and was up to 4th before the gearbox gave up so still a good start but very frustrated this time.
The gearbox had been stripped and rebuilt over night but obviously there was a problem with something in there which was not clear. its having a new box before brands hatch in 2 weeks so hopefully i'll get on better then. the reverse gear was in pieces when the box was stripped and we suspect that was damaged when i spun in testing on Friday, it jumped out of gear when i was manoeuvring back into the right direction :-s.
here's a video of a test session (while i still had the throttle problem). by best lap in testing was a 1:17 due to the problems and i managed a 1:15.1 in the quali and races.

to make things better it was good to see Matt and Adam drop by. Need to get out in your Noble more often mate, forget that CSL ;-). still hoping to drop down to Donington next weekend to watch you guys.

Great to see you in the slicked up aero kart and bad bad luck with the gearbox.
Let's hope for better mechanical luck on the next outing.
Video looks great.... It's almost as though it's been speeded up. The corner speed with lack of weight, the aero package and slicks must be mental.
It's just a shame that I could never fit in one.....
Weathers not looking good for our Saturday race at Donny which is a real b
d as we know how st the car is in the wet and our evening session last Monday in the dry went so well.
Keep praying for dry please and you may feel like getting the Noble out for a run.
