Hi all,

I am sorning my noble for a year or two. Just wondering what the best thing to do is to prevent the battery getting damaged? Should I just pull the fuse from the ECU?

Also I have heard people say that if u leave the car sitting for a long time on the same spot on the tyres u will see flat spots when you move it again?

Anything else I should do?

I tried to search for other threads but search down at the moment.

Disconnect the battery, it's the only way. It will go flat by itself so it's a good idea to trickle charge every few months, also roll the car forwards and backwards to keep the brakes off. Also don't put the handbrake on, just leave it in gear.

Laying a car up for that sort of time requires a thorough preservation regime. An oil change would be a good idea at the least. Ensure the brakes are completely dry before laying up and leave in neutral without the handbrake applied. I would probably remove the battery altogether, though if you are planning to run the car at all a maintenance charger might be an easier option. It is good practice to move the car from time to time to exercise the tyres, prevent rotating assemblies siezing etc. Penetrating and moisture dispersing sprays are also very useful to reduce corrosion.

I think some of the above is overkill for a year or two... My car hasn't been used properly for 18 months. It came out once and done 10 miles before I stripped it all down and didn't move other than the occasional push out the garage, all I done was remove the battery completely and trickle charge it every month or so for a day or two. yes I ripped the car to bits and cleaned/resealed as I went but mechanically nothing was used and everything is fine.

Just to add that a decent dehumidifier will mean you'll drive out as much car as you drove in.
