Wheel nut torque settings?

Hi,
Does any body know what torque stettings the wheel nuts should be tightened to? ( 2.5L )

I've always tightened alloys to 80 lbs/ft, re-check after 100 miles.

No idea if Noble specify, but that should get you started.

I think i read in the build manual a while back - 90lbs/ft.

The figure in the Wiki FAQ is: 130 Nm or 95 lb.ft which is what I use - that`s for the road wheel nuts not the hub/wheel bearing nuts.

I just tighten them so they are tight, i.e. they are not going to drop off !

Just looked it up in the build manual:

US build manual said:

NEVER install the lug nuts using an impact wrench. Always torque the nut using a torque wrench to 80 lbft

Which is 108.5 Nm apparently.

I always thought an impact driver/wrench was one of those things you stuck on a nut that would not undo, and then whack it with a hammer. But, a bit of googling shows it's one of the electric things that they often use in tyre changing places. And you know when some tt has done up your wheel nuts with one of those, because you can't get the bds undone again !

More commonly pneumatic than electric - in any case I always specify the torque I want, and supervise. Surprising how few use a torque wrench correctly.

Yeah, that's what I meant, i.e. not tightened by hand using a spanner/torque wrench etc.

Don't you just love it when you see someone do a wheel right up with an airgun, then check it's torqued correctly. Surprise surprise! CLICK.

Of course it bloody is, you've just gone over by about 200Nm with your air gun!
