Its happened twice now over the last 6 months.
Had the car out on two seperate occations and had it up to speed... say no more!
when pulling away after a high speed run theres been a real lack of power... thought it may be fuel starvation or a turbo on its way out!
could it be the heat it was a hot day
Any ideas?

Changing the subject i've been thinking about a performance exhaust mines sounding a bit loud now think the baffles are gone!
Do they make a noticeable difference to the power?
Mines standard apart from a dump valve.
I have been thinking about spending some money on upgrades.
Any ideas where to start?

Doubt its fuel starvation as it would feel like the engine had died temporarily, if the car is stock then chances are that it could be caused by heat, could be the IC getting heat soaked and pulling the ignition timing.
Stage 1 upgrade would be the IC rather than the exhaust.

You're not far away from me may be if your interested in taking a look.
Will take it out again over weekend and see if it does it again.

Heat soak is my guess... The ecu really drops the power when the intake temps get too high.... And the sensor can get hot when engine bay is hot.

Sorry if I'm not explaining the problem very well...
It was as though it was out of fuel total lack of power put my foot down a few times and it was stuttering wasn't running freely.
It had between quarter and half a tank of fuel.
If it was a turbo would it not play up all the time.
I don't drive the car hard normally its just happened on the 2 occasions I have.
Recently replaced the fuel pump relay.
Topped up header tank a couple of times,
Probably only covered 2k miles since a years ownership.
Cheers 4 all the feed back!

did this happen last weekend when it was really hot ?

You mentioned upgrades .I'm no expert but if i can help from what i read from the forum if you change the exhaust you have a few options : rousch , hayawrd & scott , allunox and there is a guy in liverpool ( can't remember the name think it was urban racing now changed ) you will need a wiring upgrade to the fuel pump , a larger capacity fuel pump ( M400 one or Bosch 044) a pro alloy intercooler , hard pipes ,then a remap by yellow shed . I think the valve springs need to be done too .

I'd check the fuel system and wiring. Fuel filter, relay, kinked pipes etc. Are there any strange noises from the fuel pump?

The fact that it happened on a hot weekend i am going to stick with it being a heat issue, the ECU was protecting the engine, you were probably also experiencing fuel evaporation.
I would look at upgrading the intercooler as a first port of call, sealing the Intercooler to the clam with some foam, heatshielding the IC box and sealing around.
Notice the whale tale internally, hot air can go from the engine bay and recirculate to the rear of the IC stalling air flow, therefore venting the whale tail is also a very good idea.

Secondly i would look at the fuel system, wiring upgrade yes, but also the fuel can get very hot, so my advice is heat lag the fuel tank, heat lag the fuel hoses and fuel rail. Isolate and separate where any coolant pipes touch/cross over the fuel lines and tank.

Keep your fuel cool and lower air intake temps, see if it sorts the problem on the next hot day.

Here is a pic of the IC box i got made, notice on the sides it is sealed all the way back to the rear clam, there are some rubber trims missing from the pic but basically it is to make sure not hot air from the exhaust system can go up and round the sides and heat soak the IC while stationary, the front is heat shielded from heat from engine bay heat and the underside is triple heat shielded from turbo and exhaust heat, the box comes sealed the the clam as stock with rubbers, but you also need to seal the top of the IC itself to the clam when closed, so taht air can not take the easy route and go round rather than going through the cooling fins.

On the below pic you will be able to see the lagging to the fuel lines.
