STP gearbox additive
Discussion
I have watched a video on you tube demonstrating how affective this stuff is.
They had a rotating machine set to a certain torque with a wheel, they then submerged the wheel in untreated oil, which was a high spec Mobil brand, placed the bearing to touch and then started counterbalancing weights to measure friction, after 3 weights were added the fricton caused the machine to stop, they then added the STP oil additive, and it took 7 weights before the machine stopped, which is to substantiate there claim over smoother gear change, less friction and less noise.
I also was reading some articles about all these companies who have been investigated to make sure they are not making false claims, company's that have made false claims get heavily fined, an example of this is slick 50 who got fined 20 million, where as STP claims were verified by the governing body
After lots of research it seem to have proven real benefits, and if that video on you tube is anything to go by then the benefits are substantial, i am very tempted to try it, but if it really does what it claims then i'm wondering what the reason is that everybody is not using it.
Has anybody tried it?

I have used it in older cars buckets to keep them running longer! A garage mechanic that I befriended in Torquay years ago went to one of the first demonstrations of this and they actually ran two engines both without oil but one with STP. The results were apparently astounding.
In fact now I come to think of it I did use it in both of my Cavalier SRis. I wouldn't be able to confirm a noticeable difference as it was too long ago. Now there's a helpful paragraph of drivel....

Snake Oil!
A link (one of many) if you need convincing.

ETA I know these are engine derived but I can't be fagged to search for a drive train related site.

can anybody point me in the right direction for which hole i put the oil in.
Have a look here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...I`d also use the advice from JimO in the US - make sure you can take out the filler plug before you drain the oil if that`s what you`re going to do.......
I decided to try it, and in my opinion made a significant difference with regards to how easily it slides into gear, i never had any transmission noise coming into the cabin so i cant comment on that.
So if if does everthing else it says on the bottle, i think it could also help protect and increase the life of the transmission.
