well yesterday was a great day for me , after 2 years of collecting parts and help from loads of people Mr Dave of Jetstream fame started assembling my new engine . we are putting it together first without rings so it can be balanced then hopefully by Christmas i will have all the parts together for final assembly biggrin
Here's a few pictures :

block and crank

pistons and rods are Mountune units but have been treated by Camcoat , they have a ceramic top coat , a slipper skirt coat .

and the underside has been treated with a heat dispersal coating .

finished ready to go for balancing :

i also have a Daddysumo front pulley to fit which is lovely

also a big thanks to Grant who popped over yesterday to drop off my new M400 shift cables

Heads are away with Mr Ian Hollaway who is gas flowing them and skimmimg ect ready for ceramic coating . Looks like christmas could be busy !! Tux

Hadn't noticed how small the block is previously. Good luck with the build, and let me know if you've got any 'not quite as good, but still better than standard' bits going cheap! Clutch, turbos etc?

Thanks,

Dom.

Si,

Nice work mate.

You sure that the std is 59mm, sounds small. I'm sure the 2.5 is bigger than that and I now have the ST200 one that is even bigger. Will measure it this week to see.

be careful, on a turbo car a larger throttle body isn't always a good thing as small means more response... the std 3L one can flow 700bhp.

Of cause the Yellowshed one is proven and is used by quite a few of the 600bhp cars (not mine).. but if the ST200 one is a lot larger then you may ruin the throttle response.

Tux... were you not running that throttle body on your engine before or is it a new one?

to help with the throttle response most manufacturers fit a lever system that opens slowly

I guess the stock noble throttle cable and linkage will be used here

the one used in the usa is the mustang 4.6 v8

available in 65, 70 and 75 mm dia

Lovely bit of kit you have there Tux. Does anyone know if this heat dispersal coating can be applied to the entire outer side of the engine block or is it not really beneficial to do it?

Hi Guys , Andy , throttle body has been run for 2 years and Trevor felt it added to the way my engined maintained its good peak RPM .

Gadge rods are mountune units longer then std , no the throttle body is specialy made by Trevor i think originaly Adrian was the first to use one .

Rob .........christmas is going to get in the way of engine building so its being cancelled for this year ..biggrin

Hi Node , dont know for sure what benifit it would have on the engine to be honest i would be inclined to go the opposite way ane try and keep the heat in the engine allowing for the engine bay to be cooler , problem then could be cylinder temps . Tux

so while the engine is away being balanced i have started work on the heads , big thanks to Gadge for suggesting i speak to Mr Ian Holloway , he is a head gas flowing guru and today he dropped off my heads ready for ceramic coating , he has done a large amount of work and i can see how much effort he has put in the ,difference to a std head is remarkable !!! not sure the pictures will do his work justace but here goes .

After removing my Track day sump last week i decided to give it a good clean and also polish up the cast insides as well , these are pretty rough as std so after a couple of hours last night i,m very pleased with the results should allow the oil to run back into the sump faster , you can also see the extra baffle fitted .
