At the back of one of the pictures there is a poster with skills4trades on it, isn't that the bloke who got stty when people asked some very pertinent questions about his car last time he tried to sell it?

WE were jealous of his car and couldn't afford it, if I remember correctly

Even if I didn't know this guy from the past i would still be concerned about buying from him. The advert is so negative and comes across that he wouldn't be easy to deal with.

It actually sounds like a decent car for the moeny, but a definate hint of agitation in the advert, although its very tempting it sounds like if anybody calls and asks if its a lotus, BMW or Cosworth, he is going to blow ..(do it!)

if its straight it would be a good buy for that money... would never pay immediately though so guess would need to view before hitting the button, i mean doing a HPI check is an absolute must when buying online right?

Anyone know what the extent of the damage was to make it a Cat B? Chassis OK - how easy is it to get it checked over??

Don't know if they offer a set inspection service, but their standard labour rate is £60/hr plus vat.

Can't need more than a hour or two at most?

So.. what would be a good price for an early example of these? It has done about 23k, the engine and box are out as it has a problem with the clutch cylinder leaking. It belongs to a guy at work who I offered 15k to during the summer, but I don't even think it's worth that now?

15k? :O im fairly sure even the 2001 cars are still fetching 18-19k, unless its a CAT A,B,C,D... then you might find the odd one for 15k.

Every website I look at regarding write off categories says A and B cannot be repaired and therefore cannot be allowed back on the road, only a C or D can be. Can some find a site that says cat B can be repaired ?

To my knowledge the description of a Cat B car is :

The vehicle may not be resold. It will have been damaged beyond economical repair, usually with major structural damage. The DVLA will require Notification of Destruction but parts can be removed and sold on.

So either it's a typo and it's meant to read Cat D or the info above is incorrect or it can't be officially used on the road, inspection or otherwise. I don't profess to be an expert in these matters but this information is common knowledge.

If it's legit it's and well repaired then it will be a good buy but it's not a bargain

It is a Cat B, you can get round it by reshelling it or something. There's a fezza 360 on Ebay that's a cat B too.

I wouldn't touch it.

There was a Noble that was repaired by a friend of Lee - the Insurance company got the hump because it was a cat B - I guess he got it done on the cheap because of who he knew. It was a Silver 3r IIRC
