Spaghetti madness!
Discussion
Here in Italy are going crazy, looking for political asylum for me and loved Nob!
From today, new costs for who has a Nob are as follows:
insurance from 500 to 1200 GBP
annual circulation tax from 2500 GBP (GTO 2500) to 4600 GBP (M400)
Madness!!!
In the country of Lambo, Ferrari, Pagani, Bugatti, Ducati, MvAugusta, Aprilia, Benelli are doing everything possible to limit the passion for motoring.
Very demotivating.

Hi from another Italian with a really luxurious GTO 3R.
My annual tax could be in the region of 3800 euros... let's see what happen.
Don't forget that our annual tax is not a "circulation" tax but an "owner" tax. If you have a car, you have to pay EVERY year, even if you put the car in storage forever.
The real problem is the resale value. No one will buy a similar car anymore.
So, if anyone wants to buy a well upgraded, hpi clear, rhd GTO 3R and re-register it back in uk give me a shout, p/x considered with kit cars, caterham, westfield, elise s1 and various classic cars.

WHAT!???!!!!!!!!!The car is your private property so if you're not using it on public roads then what the hell is that about??
What is your annual tax based on for cars? is it engine size, BHP,CO2 or value?

That's right. The tax is based on power (Kilowatts) and Co2 class (euro 0 is an older non cat, euro 5 is the latest technology, cars built after september 2009.The car is your private property so if you're not using it on public roads then what the hell is that about??

Value of the car is never considered.
Last year I payed for my 3R around 1000 euros (emissions euro3, 270kw), in June this year the government decided for another tax of 10 euros every kw over 225. (bringing the total tax to around 1500 euros for me).
And NOW they are preparing ANOTHER tax, of 20 euros every kw OVER 170!!! Bringing the total amount to over 3500 euros. But we don't know if this tax will apply only to cars BUILT after 2008, or REGISTERED in Italy after 2008. My Noble was built and registered in UK in 2003 and registered in Italy in 2009.
And what about insurance??? We have to pay ONE insurance every car we drive (average 1000 euros/year for third party only, 1600cc car, 30 years driver, no previous accidents).
I personally have 5 cars, a campervan, a motorbike and a trailer only driven by me. Everyone must be insured singularly.
Some insurance companies make a 10/15% discount when you insure the 2nd car, but no more.
Welcome in the land of motorsport.
We're doomed.

sorry to say IMO this is going to happen a lot more in european countries... taxation on those who can pay regardless of how reasonable.
+1 totally agree, and unfortunately we'll all grumble about it and then just accept it without going on strike, doing demonstrations and/or creating merry hell over it because that's what we middle class Brits do. Bugger that, revolution i say.Vote Clarkson for PM, that'll sort it out...........
in Belgium the one off "in circulation tax" will rise as from 01/01/12 ; I've paid now +1700 EUR, then it will be a LOT more ! They base on emissions & BHP.
Yearly road tax (even if you don't drive) = around 600 EUR for a 2.5
For a car in storage you don't have to pay 'owner tax', but then you're not allowed to drive.
Insurance : mine is insured as a 'hobbytimer' : I pay only 302 EUR/year (basic insurance), no mileage limitations
