Forged Pistons
Discussion
they should take as much power as any other forged piston IMHO
however i do not know how tight the tolerances are (i hear that the engine slaps when cold)
does it have a central gudgeon pin or is there an offset ?
a piston expands when hot so the dimensions and ring gaps need to be set for the target hp / temperature

I cant offer any help, but the below information may be usefull if you are having custome pistons made.

was it an m400 to start with ?
Yeah, main bearings and big ends have been replaced/upgraded the crank, rods and pistons remain M400 parts though.Gadgeroonie said:
the crank mains and big ends run in oil - was there oil starvation that caused you to replace them ?
Love how people assume the worst all the time...
But nope there was no problems with them, the engine had done 18k. I only replaced/upgraded as recommended by Trevor before going for the 550 set up. Gadgeroonie said:

£900 is a bit steep for something you can have custom made for a lot less than 100 per piston
do you know the compression ratio ?
a group but might be a good idea !
My only option for the 2.5 was buy 4 sets for around the £900 a set. So had them custom made by arias at £1200 with a few extra's like ceramic coating.£900 is a bit steep for something you can have custom made for a lot less than 100 per piston

Don't think you will find anything much cheaper than £900.
Other option is cossie Pistons as Steve has in his 2.5. Must be able to get some for a 3.0. Bore might need to be re sized a bit, however this route requires different rods also so end up paying more than the £900.

Apologies for going OT, but I can't help on the forged pistons front!
Thanks,
Dom.

I was asking as I'm doing the gt28rs route and wanted to make sure I'm safe piston wise for the 600 club, my pistons were re-dressed and rings fitted by mountune when the 550 was the target. I will contact them and check if it's going to be a problem.
If you're now confirmed as going with GT28RS turbos, could I ask what you'll be wanting for your modded T28s? I may well be interested. Email through my profile if you'd prefer. Thanks,
Dom.
