I am looking for 4 buyers for some 3.7 litre engines

the engines contain

forged pistons - 8.0:1 compression ratio (could be higher if needed)
steel rods standard length
big bore block using standard length stroke
clevite bearings
oil pump
special head gasket
new main bolts
balanced engine
all assembled

this engine build is a short engine = You need to supply your own cylinder heads and sump

i can get prices for a complete engine with heads / cams and sump fitted but this is not so easy as not all 3.0 duratec engines come with the same heads and sump as the noble. I also think some owners have already had headwork done so the heads can be used again

the price for the short engine is coming out around £4k which when you conisder how much work is going into them is quite a bargain

to get the project off the ground i need 4 interested parties

if anyone wants a complete engine with heads / cams etc this can also be catered for

if somebody wanted to go for less CC ie 3.5 litres - then this may also be possible

if somebody wanted to go for 4.0 litres this may also be possible

if you are an interested party please let me know either via this thread or via a PM if you want to keep it quiet

Hi Gadge
In San Fran now and away for a few weeks after. Let's catch up at the watering hole and discuss when I get back (if you can wait that long)

Have you got anymor eifno on the modded blocks? what is the wall thickness of the new liners? are they ductile iron or the soppray on stuff? what is the thickness of the block between the cylinders? Are the new liners longer than stock (better piston stability)? how much BHP do the manufactures recon the block will hold?

Chris.

have they actually run engines to that level of power (or even above real 600bhp for that matter)? or are they guessing they will take that power?
for that price they will be retaining the stock ford crank and i'm surprised people think it can take that much.

the hp numbers are based on similar big bore conversions they have already done

the std cranks are strong - a forged crank is possible if somebody wants one ( i think hoover has done nearly 1000 bhp on a stock crank)

Some more info

"The liners are ductile Iron spun sleeves.

the liners are the same length sleeves as block design does not allow a longer one.

The engines have taken over 900hp so far

The sleeves are stronger than factory."

well i'm very keen to see what power the engine can be taken to... Im planning to increase the torque to 600ftlb on mine when the motec is fitted but i've been worried about breaking the crank and/or box... to go to 1000bhp would require a hell of a lot more torque! wonder if we are being overly cautious?

What rpm do they recomend their bottom end to?... i'm also keen to see what development they have done to the engine, or will be the first time they have worked on the duratec?

standard cranks can run to big power

for example i know of a standard 2.0 mondeo crank has done over 700 hp

most of my customers that run stupid power jap cars all run stock cranks

high revs however are quite a strain on an engines oil pump and valve train
