Tried to fire the old girl up today and all I got was a clicking sound from the starter motor. She's been on trickle charge - lights, alarm, fuel pump, radio works fine so don't think it's battery. Slipped her into 6th and rocked her back and forth but still no joy. Had a poke about with the relays behind the divers seat, no joy.

Anyone else experienced this? New starter motor?

Does sound like SM has given up. Fairly common I'm afraid. Have you tried bump starting it? Might be more effective at releasing it than rocking in 6th. But even if the SM works after a bump, it will let you done again sooner or later so be prepared to replace.

I think you're right mate. Is this a Jetsream job or one that can be done with limited skills? Any idea of costs/part no/places to source?

If you have access to a ramp easy to do but disconnect battery first, otherwise maybe off to Brunters !

Can also do from 'the top', but a it fiddly. Skip at Bespoke Performance in Ware will do for you in about 30 mins. If you do yourself make very sure that the solenoid of the new unit is exactly the same length as the one you take off. I had this prob once and the new longer solenoid was literally mm from the fuel tankyikes not to be recommended. And it didn't stay there for long!
