Nob not unlocking
Discussion
Hi guys
Any thoughts on this gratefully received
Tried to open the car today and neither door is unlocking
I reckon the battery should be OK and the alarm is disabling and re-enabling when I press the key fob, but the doors don't unlock. I can hear the door lock (solenoid(?)) working when I re-lock the car but when I try to open it there is no sound of the lock mechanism working at all.
I'll obviously need to undertake the alternative entry route, but any suggestions as to what's likely to be the fault and what I should be looking at once I get in?
As I say - any ideas welcome on this
Andrew

Ed, thread - remove - take discussion outside please.
GentsThis topic has come up before and I understand the sensitivity.
I'm only looking to get some advice on what the cause of the fault might be, not how I might or might not get into the car.
Hopefully general faults with the central locking aren't a worry from a discussion viewpoint?
I had his problem. There's a small control module for the central locking in the passenger footwell near the fuse box. Might want to check that.
Mine was positioned underneath the air-con pipes and had slowly filled with water from condensation on the pipes. The switch in it was completely corroded. I Googled the part number and got a replacement online - cost about a fiver and totally fixed my door lock problem.

Thanks for the advice.
Looks like the issue was far simpler, being just a low battery charge - ironic really as I was trying to get into the car to put it on trickle charge.
Doors now seem to be locking and unlocking OK so I'll give it a few hours on charge and then get the engine started.
Seems that having moved, the new garage is much colder than the previous one and the battery needs charging every couple of weeks rather than every three or four. Could be getting near to the end of it's life too of course.
Cheers
Andrew

Why not just leave it connected?Looks like the issue was far simpler, being just a low battery charge - ironic really as I was trying to get into the car to put it on trickle charge.

I would be careful leaving it on permanent charge as I left mine on an optimate for a few weeks once and it charged it up and then it ended up going totally flat, turns out you should switch it off every week for a few days then switch on again, although I I thought that the idea behind these are that they maintain the battery?lotus160sport said:

Mine has regularly been left on charge for 3 months at a time for the past 3 years without any problems. Thats using a C-Tek battery conditionerGassing Station | Noble | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
