Six speed Conversion
Discussion
OK
After the full repaint and a few other tweeks to the car I have a few quid left in the old pot and was thinking whilst the engine is out I might convirt to a six speed car. Pennies permitting!!!
So basicly I have two questions!!
1 What parts are required?
2 Has anyone got any spare parts for sale??
Regards

Hi Nicksey , i have just done this change and its a pretty long list , also i upgraded to the M400 linkage which is a massive improvement over the std shift !!
list is :
6 speed gearbox inc diff
complete gearlinkage inc cables and brackets ect
all engine mounts
clutch inc slave cylinder
Clutch pipe adapter
new lower rear passenger side wishbone
new starter motor
front wheel speed sensor
i had my gearbox rebuilt by The gearbox man as well .
unless you are running over 500bhp you can get away with getting the gearbox man to upgrade the 5 speed box and getting Jetstream to fit there new 5 speed linkage , i ran this for 2 years and 490bhp with no issues although you will need to fit gearbox cooling and a new uprated clutch . Tux

I have a 2nd hand 6 speed clutch and slave, maybe even a starter... also a lightened flywheel (steel)
However having done the conversion as well dont underestimate the work involved... I made 2 engine mounts myself and retained the power steering one.
To save cash and hassle you could buy the old cables etc from someone who's upgraded to the M400 kit... the M400 style is much nicer though and id recomend going for it.

box is an ST220.. get as low mileage as you can... around 250quid for a good one, I do have a couple but want them as spares im afraid... they are easy to find though (unlike the 5 speed)
you then need a quaife diff... 650quid.
up to you if you want to rebuild it... budget on another 1k for a rebuild and oil cooling modifications (must for high power)
I tried to reply to your mail but got a server error... im traveling to Germany tomorrow so might struggle to call... if I don't will try at weekend when i'm back
