I just did it myself (see my 'winter works thread') but haven't got the car out yet.
If you look into the tunnel, you can realize that it gets damn hot in it : all that tubing that carries hot liquids from front to back, all in a tight & closed area.
Heat is stuck in the tunnel & rises, so into the cabin, through the tunnel walls.
Feeding some cold air from the front air intakes will definitely cool that down !
