Is this my ECU ...

Hi there,

I'm trying to remove my ECU - i've got a 3.0l 3R.

I've got the wheel off, self tapping screws removed and wheel liner removed.

I understand the ECU has 4 bolts to remove? is that right?
In the picture below is the ECU in the middle of the picture?
Behind the two black pipes?

Yep its the box with 3 connectors going to it....

You can just make out the top 2 bolts in the photo, there are also 2 along the bottom edge. You will have enough loom attached to unbolt the ECU and withdraw from the car before removing the connectors - this will allow you to clean them first. The connectors have a latch retaining the clips; once released the clips swing through 90 degrees to remove.

But i'm sure how to remove the ECU from the clips?

How do i remove the latch retaining the clips?
Do i use a screwdriver or my hands?
I dont want to force any thing and break the ECU.

Any help much appreciated,

From memory, as you lift the retaining latch you also pull the plug out of the ecu, they are a tight fit as they need to be waterproof.

I'm sure they have a little locking latch that has to be depressed on each one first..

You're having quite an adventure with this job aren't you! Hopefully you're sorted now - the small locking latch can be depressed by hand, allowing the clips to be hinged open. This will withdraw the plugs, preventing damage to the pins.

Lol. Glad you got there in the end, I'm the complete opposite so although I'm confident at The practical stuff put me in front of a pc and I'm useless!
