Too much choice for tyres!

Been trawling through the many threads about tyres and came up with many different options:

Avon ZZ3
Falken FK452
Yokohama Advan Sport V103
Yokohama AVS Sport V102
Federal 595 RS-R
Toyo 888

I'm doing a trip to Germany in a weeks time and need a decent tyre to take me round Spa for a few laps and be happy in normal wet/dry road conditions.

I was tempted by the Federal 595 RS-R but it does look "track only".

What's everybody else running?

I'm no track expert so wouldn't expect to get the best out of a track focussed tyre.

Falken FK452s are a decent price too.

if you not running heaps of torque then how about the Toyo R 1R ?

Yeah, how much power and torque do you have? If you overtyre with something racey you're going to make the car a little dull to drive on the road.

I've gone with P-Zero Rosso all round because I'm running standard power and like a bit of movement to keep it exciting, plus they'll be able to deal with the odd trackday without getting destroyed.

RSRs are good summer/track tyres.

... and not too shabby on cold wet roads either. I used mine through the winter, without drama.

Definately recommend the falken's I've got them on both of my cars and I have been very impressed with them, great on price to.

595RSR are a good all rounder, not quite as grippy as the R888 but the difference is nominal and they are a lot cheaper, they are also better in the wet..but not as good in the wet as some of the others..they have quite a soft compound but wear well..Steering response is good as they are quite strong on the sidewall but i find you need to lower tyre pressures a little more than other tyres to get the most out of the grip..They are also a relatively quiet tyre..

I'd throw Toyo R1R into that pot too, a more all weather road version of the 888's

Federals seem difficult to get a hold of. Anybody got a decent outlet they can recommend - I do some phone calling on Monday but it would be good to get a head start.

Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas aren't too bad and would be my choice over the falkens that seem to have really floppy soft sidewalls. Take some warming up but are perfect road tyres and are plenty grippy but with lots of play on tap

Another vote for Vreds. For the money (£600 ish a set) they're a great all rounder but they do need to warm up a bit.

Fast Eddy's Performance Car Services (Norwich) or Demon Tweeks for the Federals. There may be other outlets, but I didn't find them!

best plave for RSRs is Camskill, cheapest and they now have a new supplier

Camskill good price online, but nil stock or supply when I was looking for mine. If the situation has now changed well worth a look.

i use eagle f1s, destryed an ariel atom 300 on country roads we both know in the wet. brilliant wet weather tyre imo

Yep they now have stock and even if they are sold out they can order on demand as they now have a new supplier.
