Tuxman Racing Shocks - Whats your settings?
Discussion
How many clicks Dampening / rebound are people using for Road ?
Pretty much forgotten what I settled on last year, have been messing around again in the last week.
Should rebound generally be higher than compression?
I seem to end up in one of three set-ups :
1) Too hard - clams a little crashy over bumps - need to sort this, have some notes from Chris on where to start.
2) rebound not quite right - bouncy down the motorway
3) too soft - the rose joints are quite noisy, passengers are like 'WTF is that?'
Im sure Simon said 5 clicks dampening, 8 clicks rebound last year ? Tux - Are you there?

I've ended up softening bump slightly and increasing rebound damping as car was a bit wayward on badly surfaced roads.

rebound should be static but needs setting per car... on mine I found that rebound was close to max on one end (rear I think).
So the only one I adjust for track is the bump one... I run fully hard on rear and one or 2 clicks from max on front.
For road I run whatever I feel is right... the nice thing about these shock is you can run them fully soft (if rebound is set correctly) and mid (around 5 clicks) and it feels nice on both.

Hi Andrew , spring rates have just had a slight tweek but to be honest they are pretty much where I feel they need to be , any stiffer and I feel while better for track it would spoil the road manners , also Andy GT and myself feel the setup helps with rear traction !!!
I might order a set of M400 spring rate springs to try but having driven a M400 a couple of weeks ago I feel it's too stiff for road use .... All IMO of course

Your opinion is much valued by me and also others I'm sure.
Your original thread on this stated 420lb at the front and 520lb at the rear. Is this pretty much where you still are?
I'm particularly keen not to change the road going nature of the 3R too much when I do any suspension changes.

Funny this thread should pop up, i just had the first chance today to try out the new shocks and springs on the road and i am very impressed with the ride..
I believe i got the slightly stiffer springs but still a very comfortable ride with your recommended settings, the ride feels noticeably harder than the stock 3R but yet the way bumps are absorbed feels just as comfortable if not more so, i dont know the proper terminology to do them justice.
Good job Si...very happy with the road manners now just have tob try them on track

Andrew YHM . Tux
hey Simon,Andrew YHM . Tux
Already have the road legal lap record m8
...1min12.8.......we are going to fit some BF goodrich, super sticky semi slicks( the ones with a line down the middle, its almost a slick)..linked with this suspension we should be able to strip off another 4 seconds and also take the street racing record which at the moment stand at 1min11...we are expecting to bring that down to under 1min10...Radical SR3RS did the track in 1min2...so it wont be long until somebody breaks the 1 min barrier..

Hi Simon
Re the Tuxman suspension mods - can I just ask if you are still happy with the spring rates you selected?
I'm looking at going for your shocks and springs combo and just wondered if you have any advice given your experience with them so far.
Thanks
Andrew
Id stick with the spring rates we have... TBH we spent a lot of time discussing the rates before we went for the one we have and IMO they are perfect combination of road with track.Re the Tuxman suspension mods - can I just ask if you are still happy with the spring rates you selected?

and let be frank, if they can keep my cars rear end in shape given that I only ever drive in full attack 600+ mode, then they must be working well

Just to be clear re your post if may - I take this to mean 420lb at the front and 520lb at the rear as in Tux's original thread
Thanks
Andrew
