No doubt I am not the only one thinking the same thing? Just interested in hearing what other people think,

Is a 600 m400 worth more than a 600 3r ?

What's your views?

Given the choice between the two, which would you go for?
Vis a vis the M400 should make a premium over the 3R.

On the basis of the nice seats and slightly better driving position, and I assume people value the ARB, side scoops etc. then it should make more I would have thought.

Good question, The same rules apply to any modified car though, to some the M400 badge will count for some extra dosh, for others it might not matter what it started off as.

For me there are things that make me glad I've got a later M400. (interior, suspension set-up and various other things like gear linkage/cables etc)

Each to their own, lol I'd need £50-60k to be tempted to let my car go... So chances are I'll never sell it.

I'd have thought that a 600+ M400 will be worth a bit more than a 600+ 3/3R.

Even if you change the seats, gearchange, arb , side scoops etc, a 3/3R will never be an M400.

Plus, if you bin the engine and have to go back to standard, then the M400 will revert back to having the usual premium.

But I do think that the difference with the full 600+ package will less.

IT does not matter what the badge says it always depends on condition and spec !! and also what someone is prepared to spend to buy a certain car .
i would expect any 600bhp car to be worth in excess of 40K , truth is there is only about 6 cars making that kind of power so who knows until one goes up for sale !!

me in going to sell mine in Cyprus biggrinbiggrin

LOL @ Cyprus, but I think the badge would sway a few pounds, especially if coming in from the cold and new to Nobles.
Correct in that its only worth what someone will pay, amazing how many people dont follow the condition and spec rule though.
Chris has called his an M500 in the past, Wander what that would be worth wink

Hi, mate - how's it going?

I agree about the condition and spec, but I still think an M400 derived car will be worth more than a 3/3R derived one in the same condition, mileage, engine spec etc.

Lets face it you can take a GTO3 and turn it into a copy of an M400, but will always be a copy.....

But like I said, I wouldn't expect there to be a big difference for the 600+ cars.

I'd say the premium attracted by a standard M400 over a standard 3R would be greatly eroded by such extensive modification. Having said that, I'd have thought a 600bhp car should be considerably more than £50k regardless of model.

I might be wrong but I thought heavily modifying most cars, irrespective of make, de-valued them? And there was no chance of getting a fraction of what you spent back? Except of course if you are having an agreed valuation for insurance purposes.

I bought my old Speedster for £10k, spent £15K fitting a Hayabusa in it and everything else that went with it. I had it insured for £25K but thought that if I came to sell it, I'd be lucky to get my £10K back!

Normally I'd agree and for any road going car having a few mods is like wasting your time. But a Noble with that sort of power will be bought by someone wanting it for the track and therefore won't care for a dump valve or a fancy spoiler, they'll want it to do what it does - much quicker than an unmodified version - and then be willing to pay a premium for that ability.
By the same token my 3R should end up being around 450bhp once I've finished and I wouldn't expect it to make a penny over a standard 3R with similar condition/mileage. It might be more desireable to some but not to others so when the time comes, I'll be pricing it where it should be given it's condition not it's performance or stick on bits.

I still say you never get back what you paid though, whatever route you choose.

I suppose the proof will be when someone lets theirs go...if they can bear to! What on earth could it be replaced with unless the sale is to do with age? i.e trouble getting in and out!!!

i personally dont think the same rules apply for racing cars with regards to worth..i.e. my friend has a Porsche 964Rs(something like that) the old air cooled type, but it has had over 100k spent, power costs mney as they say..
but if you have the same mods on a 3R as on a M400, then i imagine the M400 will always be worth a bit more.

Pretty much what I am thinking, the M400 must still retain its premium over a 3R modified or not.

But how much of a premium over a stock M400 to the highest spec M400 in top condition ?

Do the usual rules apply with this type of car? I don't think so but then I would say that:smile
It seems nowadays that people are asking big premiums for highly tuned high spec cars, wether it be a Nissan micro or a Porsche RS. Some company's do this for a living and make big profits from upgrading standard cars.

Could a Big spec big powered mint noble reach 60K?

Not thinking of selling mine I might add, but interested in the. opinions of others.

I think the problem is when you consider what 60k can buy you nowadays any Noble no matter how sorted it is has some serious competition...

I would like to see a sorted noble and skyline go head to head at somewhere like snetterton. Has anyone done a trackday with a powerful gtr?

Yep at Knockhill, similar power, noble was a couple of seconds a lap quicker.

I agree totally , then I ask myself of all the cars up to 75k what would you buy that could replace a 600+ Noble?
I have thought and looked and driven, and I can still see value in my car above all I have considered new or old..
The Noble may not be as refined on the inside as some of the comp, but that's an easy fix.
