How to change a gear knob on a Noble?

It's a little embarrassing but I'm hoping you good people could be kind enough to point me in the right direction for what I thought was a very simple job.

Jetstream said I had to basically get underneath the car and remove an access panel which lets you get access to two 8mm nuts which hold the knob in place. I was hoping it twisted off or I could get access to it via the panel that the gear stick, handbreak etc sit on as it partially lifts off anyway but I thought it was glued at the ends but I've been told it's bolted on hence the only way to change this is to get under it?. So unless I've confused jetstream and myself for that matter I guess my longwinded question is how do you change a gear knob on a Noble please?

Depends on which knob you have - if you have the round aluminum ball, there's a locknut underneath the gaiter. If you're lucky, you can pull down the gaiter to get access to the locknut. Otherwise, you have to remove the padded tunnel top - it's held on by a nut in each corner, and press-in fasteners (christmas trees) in the middle. To access the nuts, you have to go under the car, remove the front and rear vent panels, and reach up inside the tunnel of the car.

If you have the M400-style leather knob, you can grab it firmly and unscrew it. However, the gaiter is held in a groove in the bottom of the knob - you may be able to gently work the gaiter out of the groove with picks or small screwdrivers, but if you can't, you have to remove the tunnel top, turn it over, and cut the wire holding the gaiter to the knob.

undo the tunnel cover imo,...which you have to do from inside the tunnel....this will allow you to pull it up from inside the cabin and get access to the gearknob nuts...stick the tunnel cover back down with velcro ..
