New to PH & New to M12 too

Hello,
I've just become an owner of an M12 GTO (2.5)


I have a few questions. Hope you can help.
1. The battery appears to be totaly dead, how do you remove the battery ?

2. I have a head unit fitted but no ariel, any reccomendation of what ariel I could fit that doesn't mean fitting it to an part of the exterior ?

3. Did the cars come with any sort of owers manual ? I don't appear to have one. Is it still possible to get hold of one.

Need to get the car up in the air and remove from underneath.

2. The ariel is a chrome telescopic variety sited in the nearside inner wheelarch (you'll see it if you open the front clip) it sits smack bang in all the road dirt and rain thrown off the tyre so it's probably corroded to nothing (like mine was). Easy to get at and easy to replace for very little cost.....for once!

Welcome to the Noble society. I have only recently introduced myself and it was very pleasing to receive a welcome from fellow owners. I hope you feel the same. My arial is mounted in the roof at the front just above the windscreen, leaning backwards, but this was done before I purchased the car.
Not my choice of position. Anyway hope you enjoy your Noble; maybe we will meet one day as I see you are in the Midlands and I am in Cheshire.

I've had a bit of a good bad day, the non-starting issue turned out to be a completly loose positive battery (not a scraped battery)13mm socket, problem solved ! .......... But I've now spotted a cracked rear manifold ! Ahhh !
Would "you" have it welded up ?

Ah, the battery. Yes....

There is a bar that holds it in place, held by two nuts. Undo those and disconnect the terminals.

Then jack the car up ( if you look underneath you will see a line of rivots about 6 inches in from the side of the car. That's where you need to put your trolley jack.

Then grab the battery and turn it though 90 degrees and it will fall out though the hole.

To make it easier you can remove the wheel arch inner mud guard bit. It's held in place with a load of self tapping screws.

It's a bd of a job.

There is an owner's manual, but I don't know where you can get one from. If you join www.nobleparts.co.uk ( it's owners only ) there is a link to the build manual, which is most likely way more than you need ( or indeed want ! ).

There is a blaupunkt active antenna thing that can be fitted to the inside of the windscreen which I'm reliably informed s very good. I've bought one but is on a list of things to do along with replace manifolds as you need too!

I had the DAB and FM version and it was rubbish (and as a qualified elecy engineer I positioned it in the right place!).

I gave up trying to find a decent signal and just plumbed in the iPhone into the AUX of the stereo and that's it for me now!

Hi Paul welcome to this gang !!

Manifold cracks are a common problem I'm afraid and welding up whilst a cheap fix can drop bits of broken manifold into the turbo causing a much more expensive problem !!!

The new Noble manifolds are very very good and a big step forward although not cheap at around £500 + vat and fitting .

Pretty straight forward to fit yourself although the front one is the bad one to change !!!

As Tux has said, you're much better off with new stainless manifolds. I've ummed and ahhed for ages and have decided to fit repaired and strengthened standard parts even though the chap who welded them up said they'll go again. I figured the original parts have lasted 8 years so I'll take my chances for the next couple and then reevaluate then.
