after making a few pieces in carbon, i decided to look to the interior.some items that i wanted to do in carbon were to complex to get perfect,so i looked into carbon dipping. the results are very good, and the attention to detail from the company is amazing.the end result is an item the looks very similar to carbon at a fraction of the cost, and most items can be dipped.i have a real carbon centre dash and its almost impossible to tell the diff to the radio surround and sterring colum shrouds. the pics dont do the finished work justice
the company is wicked coatings in poole.01202622258 i looked at several, and these are by far the best i came across

Ive just been talking to them, and their very reasonable on price and will do most parts with a quick turn around.

I think I just died inside a little. It's just so pointless. Also yes, you can tell.

Just one question and then I'll go away - are you trying to make people think you have carbon fibre wheels or do you just like the (incorrect) pattern?

While the wheels do look nice, they do not look like carbon fibre IMHO
Have a bit of a thing for carbon myself, You just cant do it on the cheap frown
Again IMHO do one or the other, dont mix and match finishes

perhaps a carbon addict yes, smile

I cant understand why anyone likes it, its got the same cheap and nasty look as the pretend carbon plastic inserts on the standard steering wheel( the bits you hold on to that get get slippy when your on track and get sweaty palms), i CANT WAIT to get a replacement for it and get the tat off my car. A refurb on the front shocks is needed now so the wheel will have to wait sadly.

I watched them doing this dipping process on american chopper, they have a bath tun and the print is on a thin layer of film suspended in the fluid, when you dip the film wraps around the object, thats why the pattern changes direction.

Mine go in a couple of weeks to be done, along with some other bits.

Can't wait.

Hollowpockets - already replaced my standard wheel for that very reason. "tat" is a very good word though.

i have this on my wheels that had done about 14 months back. ive tried uploading a pic but wont let me. i think on the 3r wheels with the thin spokes it doesnt look quite as good but still i like it. obvioulsy a bit biased but i get so many comments on them and the genreal consensous is that they loook good.

I quite like the idea of some wooden wheels!
