Bought M400 Scoops...to colour code or contrast.....

Following on from the recent side scoop thread, I've taken the plunge and bought a couple of oem M400 scoops.
I'll need to paint them so here's the question. Would you guys colour code to main body colour (larch silver) or paint dark graphite grey to match my powder coated dark grey alloys and recently painted matching spoiler
........has anyone got any pics of non body coloured scoops? Just to help me decide

Thanks for the pics Simon. I'm swaying towards painting my pods the dark graphite grey (it's a lancia grey) so darker than the Peugeot graphite grey which adorns original M400's and some 3R.s

i have the larch silver code which i painfully got translated to water base..it was a good match..i'm sure i posted it on PH..i will see if i can find it.

The problem with colour matching it that you have to fill and blend it into your panel which may crack at some point, and you have to mess with your existing paint which could lead to blending in with your door and rear clam, or you end up with a dry joint which is black.

So going black is a lot easier and looks good imo..i am just also doing my wing mirrors carbon fibre to match..there is a lot of black on the car naturally so it picks up and compliments them..

What have you guys done inside the scoops.......they're not pretty as its all the scrappy rough fibreglass.
James at SWLC advised black stone chip .......but surely you can still see the "surface of the moon" style fibreglass texture.
I'm I facing hours of sanding my hand to make them pretty?
I also assume your scoops are mesh-less? Just retaining the existing mesh where's already positioned?

My opinion would be body colour. You're already sticking a big plastic lump on and spoiling that scalloped line, don't make it stand out even more.

Couple of coats of primer flatted between coats then topped off with some satin black . No mesh .

How about sticking them on. SWLC suggested a 3M mastic which still allows a degree of flex. Unfortunately they didn't know the type of 3M. I was thinking tiger seal but maybe that's too solid. I don't want thm shearing off with vibration and body flex.

no ..unfortunately i left the rough grp finish inside which i regret and i will eventually get round to sorting a better finish for inside..so i would recommend you do that.

Not sure you can leave exist mesh in place, i had to cut my clam a bit...here are some pics, but not in order..

I hope I don't need to start butchering my bodywork ( chris yours look very smart) but I'm just not that brave. Lol

Mines are pretty badly stone chip and currently colour coded. I'm tempted to go down the carbon wrap / dip route but not sure if they are bonded on.

I'll be putting on some armour fend stuff to protect against chips ......just along the outer lip where stones and projectiles are most likely to make contact. Lucozade- if you decide to wrap them they won't need to come off the car.
On the subject of carbon dipping, I saw some stuff recently in the flesh and it looked terrible....like halfords carbon fibre air freshner terrible.

i have just bought a pair from james at swlc and i painting them the same colour as the car azure blue think they look nice coded to the car colour in my opinion!!

you need to cut the backs out to get them to work ! (or fit Tuxman hedge trimmers)

Gadge......are you sure you need to cut out part of the old gto vent to make M400 scoops work? I would have thought just paint, bond them one and job done? Surely it makes no difference leaving the existing set up in situ and just firing on the scoops? Or are being a purist and meaning that's ow the original M400s had them done.
