More welding exhaust bracket again!

Right still having teething problems since Noble ownership.

My Noble had a knocking noise around three months ago which turned out to be an exhaust bracket. 300 or so quid later the guys down in a 'Valley that's full of Moles' had done the welding. Problem solved.

I went from 1st to 2nd gear ealier (giving it some)in the week and guess what...its back.

I obviously don't want to have to pay for the same thing to be fixed.(which hopefully i wont) So, either it wasn't done successfully the first time or its a fault with the brackets.

Could anyone shed any light on this for me? is more welding worth it? would a recently welded part just brake again under stress?

Can you get the car to The Ace Cafe on Wednesday evening whilst it is still light? Some of the lads may be able to help.

sounds expensive to weld a bracket..money better spent on a replacement exhaust IMO

Is it the bracket attached to the pipe and silencer on passenger side, if so it will keep braking, lost count how many times mine has been rewelded, if you don't get it done it then breaks the weld on the box, £300 sounds a lot

Yes I'm pretty certain it is, can't believe its happened this quick again.

It is expensive but I dont know of another place I can take my car for the welding. Annoying.

I had mine welded twice before I replaced it. The dealer just did it as part of the service ( i.e. "oh, we just fixed that for you" when I collected it ).

£300 sounds a lot just to weld ta broken bracket. You'd be better off buying a nice new one.

How about any backstreet garage who own a welder? I paid £20 to have mine welded last year, been fine since.

Yes, that's true.

I just need to make sure it definitely is that bracket. Just thought a specialist will know what to look for.

I suppose it will be obvious. (hopefully)

It's a ten minute job to weld, but it will break again, there are a few fixes on the forum when the search works, just had mine welded, best fix is to get new exhaust, as I am trying to do

£300 to weld an exhaust !!! Bugger I'm going to buy a welder

MV fixed mine under warranty. Before that had it welded twice whilst driving around Europe. I just popped into a garage in Italy and they did it for free. Still went again though.

MV fixed a new bracket to the exhaust. Did they do this? Will try and get a pic tomorrow for you.

300 bloody quid to weld the bracket???Mine was 30 quid with an extra piece welded on for strength!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I will be looking for a new exhaust soon. I know there are a few examples out there but haven't made my mind up yet.

No they just welded it.

this is the offending item, had mine welded yesterday lasts about 500 miles, it then cracks joint on back box, cant believe MV charged £300
one of the fixes was to make a new bracket and weld it on vertically, so it was standing up, not lying flat

Did the welder have a Labrador by any chance?

Typical of MV in my experience, they smell desperation and go in for the kill.
However they would have had to disconnect the ECU before welding it if it was mig.

the trick is to not re weld the old metal - but add new thicker material - I used the shaft of a bolt and it has been perfect ever since
