Not even sure I agree with those - although most here do.Check that the throttle cable runs along the offside of the engine (not over the forward turbo heat shield) - this was a factory fix. Avoid the MBE ECU (only on early models). Must have LSD (written on the bell housing - very "tech"), 6-speeders better, trackday sump essential for any track use at all, a/c - most have this £2K option.

Avoid the Webber Marinelli (spelling ?) ECU I would suggest,the MBE is the prefered one.

Well blow me I was in there today!
Was visiting family in Beaconsfield, and because they had an Ultima and a CLS, both of which I wanted a look at(and both bloody sold!) I popped in.
Cosmetically that 3R looked O.K,( only had a very,very brief glance though)and I didn't look at anything under the clams.
However, what I can say is that we bought the wifes Discovery from there in 2008,( he gets a lot of cars through Porsche Centres which is where ours came from)and it's been a bloody good car,so much so that I'd be happy to buy from them again.after my intial sceptism,(the deal seemed too good) everything turned out to be true, even to the point that I was paying a lot less than the original owner had been given by the Porsche centre in part-ex.It was the same two chaps in the showroom in 2008,and even 4 years after with no contact since, he remembered me.
Kerridges also have a 3R at the moment, another dealer I've dealt with for 20 years, who I'd recommend without hesitation.
