Hello all,

Off topic, but I'm going to Silverstone on Saturday with the speed limiting device.

Having never been before, I was wondering if anyone can recommended some good vantage points for watching practice/quali/GP2 races?

Thanks in advance! smile

the entrance to maggots and Becketts ... you should be looking at the back of the cars as they go through ..the fence comes really close and its the only place I've ever been that gives you an idea of how fast an F 1 car is , andhow good the drivers are ! ...see you there ?

as a suggestion , I take a robust chaor on sat and sunday , then you can just pitch up behind everyone , wherever you want , and stand on it to see over ( friday grandstands seats are open and free ) also take a small FM radio to listen to radio silverstone to keep up with whats going on ( trust me , otherwise youll come home not knowing what went on ! ) ...enjoy

I'm going friday and sunday, pit lane access etc. really looking forward to it. Perhaps i'll try and stick some orange lights on the nob and pretend to be the safety car.....

JB or Lewis to win, must be time for a british winner surely !

Yep, a McLaren 1-2, in any order, Paul Di Resta in 3rd and a pair of DNF's for Alonso and Vettel would be good!

And thanks for the extra info Nigel smile

Well, due to the weather and it's effect on the car parks at Silverstone, the question of where the best places to watch from would seem to be academic now!

Received an email from Silverstone last night saying they were "strongly encouraging fans with public car parking on Saturday not to come to Silverstone tomorrow"

However this was superceded with one this morning saying that -

"People with general admission/roving or grandstand tickets who do not have park and ride and were planning to arrive by car should not attempt to approach the circuit as they will turned away"

So, in front of the TV will have to do!

bks

Yes drove 41/2 hrs and got onto a43 in good time only to sit there and move a couple yards every hour. Then finally to abandon car in some bogg field and get told by marshells feilds now shut.

we then had to run in to see the final practice in uncovered stands.so much for roaming ticket!!

You'd thought after the last episode at silver stone they'd had it sorted by now....

Not a good image to the world when we're meant to be the F1 capital of the world !
