just got to say how excited i am about getting on track tomorrow at Croft circuit. The first time my car has been near a race track since the head gasket failed last September. Since then i have rebuilt the engine myself and completed about 700miles and is now ready to be tested properly. To make it more exciting i'll be there with our faavourite Porsche beating M400 Shaun :-). looks like there will be breaks in the weather for us so lets hope the car holds up!!!!!

pics and vids will be up tomorrow night :-)

cheers

A mixed day as burgers were substandard from van!!!

Seriously, James bless him had a bad off at Tower bend end of back straight & ended up near York due to total brake failure around 120 & destroyed enough corn in the field to fill 10'000 Corn flake boxes, entered the field around a ton....

James is fine but sadly damage to front clam, front splitter disintergration etc, any other bend could have been near fatal no question

James will have both mine & his footage up later.

Apart from above great day, fantastic track Croft.

I am gutted I had to miss Croft today !
Hope Your car is not too badly damaged, to have no brakes on the end of that straight at 120 must of been a bit of a brown trouser moment James eek

I`d rather eat dog muck than a burger from one of those vans at Croft.

Shaun is totally right, a good and bad morning for me!

First of all really pleased the car ran really well until the brake failure. Apart from my suspension being set too hard for crofts deteriorating track surface and some comic tyre rubbing from the new pirellis on longer corners the car ran well and straight line speed was pretty much level pegging with the rocket, a good measure since my winter rebuild.

I did about 4/5 laps with one of my mates first and then pitted to check everything was ok. After a break Shaun and I went out together to get some cool video, we did not disappoint! I went out in front then let Shaun by and followed, I then went through for a lap or so. Went round the first couple of corners behind a lotus and decided to head into the pits after a cool down. I let Shaun by and followed him into tower corner. I went to hit the brakes and NOTHING!!! Pedal hit the floor and I pumped it a couple of times, still nothing. I had to just drive straight at the field trying to hit it square on.

Cracking video from both my 2 cameras and Shaun's. I'll edit the crash out quickly and drop it on YouTube.

I'm really looking forward to finding out what caused the failure, pretty concerning really. Any other corner at any other track and I think I'd be in hospital right now and no more noble. Looks like a good fibre glass repair on the front clam and a respray should be all it needs.

Cheers

James

also, annoyingly i treated myself to the Reverie front splitter was mashed into about 4 pieces.

I really want to say a huge thanks for Shaun as well. always been a top gentleman but you were really kind when i crashed out, stopping straight away at the corner and making sure i was not hurt. we'd had a great time leading up to that and i think the rest of the day would have got better and better. Sorry i had to shoot when you went out to get fuel, my mate wanted to get back to Newcastle earlier. He really appreciated the passenger ride, as did i. I'll give you one soon mate ha.

cheers

No probs, I was just relieved you were both alright, the Marshall wasn't going to let me enter the the debris field I just told him where to go the Hull way...

To see it in real time was incredible compared to the footage, I was for a split second bewildered with your positioning on the right with Tower beckoning as both at around 120 then knew your brakes had shot & your quick evasive action was why that alone saved us both great driving pal. I have seen it happen twice once with a 4.5 red Cerbera he though ended up in the swamp further on.smile

One thing for sure your car really seriously quick now & was great to see it in action for 5 laps or so after all this time. Once repaired & brakes addressed you'll have some awesome fun without doubt & richly deserved with the luck you have had. Fingers croossed, great fun times ahead.

Late afternoon it was near desolate with some epic duels with Colin in the Westy Hyabusa & then a passenger in the blue RS4 estate with 650 bhp, what an incredible weapon that was down the straights absolutely phenominal. Earlier Colin's bonnet flew off on Pit straight, we got it back on then side of track then resumed battle, I'll get my lad to put that up tomorrow including bonnet take off...

See ye soon & good luck with car

great day today shaun , you know your pretty hardcore when your the last ones on track and they kick you off because theyre closing , today i went through 3 tanks of petrol all in and 3 gallons of water/meth mix, the drive home was just as awesome as being on the track and the new r888,s are something else. bad news about the green m400 but he still didnt beat mellys record of combine harvesting in the yellow tvr from 4 years ago. hope you get it fixed soon. shaun you remember this ??
