I presume it's part of a previous aftermarket alarm or tracker, but just wanted to check it's not part of the standard setup before I rip it out.

It was cable tied to a bracket just in front of the A/C unit in the N/S front wheel arch.

I'm probably totally wrong, but from the arrow on it and it's location I would say that it is part of lap timing system used at race tracks.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

There is a mini din plug on the other end. It is not currently plugged in to anything - it goes through the bulkhead on it's own and is just dangling with the rest of the wires in the passenger footwell. Not sure if I have unplugged it by pulling the wire about, but everything still seems to work though.

Do you think this looks like the standard unit then? Pretty sure the central locking still works without this being plugged into anything but I'll double check tomorrow.

OK, it's not the central locking interface - that still works as normal. The alarm & immobiliser (standard) still seem to work the same too.

There does seem to be something that moves around inside it, so I did originally wonder if it could be a motion/tilt sensor?

I'll open it up and have a look smile

Mystery solved - I've just scanned the barcode - it's the safety cut-out which is part of a Teasmade machine (go figure!) wink
