Hi all.
After watching this event for several years now,i'v put my name down to compete this year.
Not having done any track days yet,so a complete novice,i was wondering about any advice on
a good start in my noble ie give it loads n dump the clutch or get the car moving a bit
before giving it the beans.
Car is a 2.5 with 445 bhp n 465 torque
Also need some new tyres for rear, had p zeros on all round new in october but rears already shot.
Was thinking 888 on back for extra grip on take off, is it a big no no to mix tyres.
Not thinking to break records here but gona give it my best shot.
Many thanks.

Hi Steve sounds like fun !!
Don't advise bug revs and dump clutch , gearbox breaking action , normaly with the power you have I would have thought a brisk getaway then nail it .
888's on the rear only should give you boat loads of understeer but should get you a good launch .
Good luck mate .

Steve, defo use R888's but don't dump the clutch as you will just end up wheel spinning then hit the rev limiter & bog down when changing to 2nd without enough forward motion.
Practice standing start with minimal wheel spin by progressive throttle getting the car going as fast as possible in 1st then changing to 2nd & then keep it flat in every gear from then on.
Good luck.

I wouldn't worry too much about the the turbo's unless they are really smoking. i ran my car for ages while mine were smoking and it just got slowly worse until i replaced them quite a few months after they original started smoking.Mark
