Anyone know what this wire does

Hi

There is a odd wire as pictured below. Does anyone know why it is there. The picture is not that good but it is a part of the engine bay electrics and is on what I think is a diagnostic unit. The wire loops round, but does not seem to serve any purpose. The car runs with and without it plugged in. It is not doing any harm, i would just like to know for reference why it is there.

if it is for boost ontrol - will be really easy to fit a switch for high and low boost !
