Martin Short at Thruxton
Discussion
Cut and paste from a post I stuck in the GT Racing forum:
Hell of a shame for Martin Short and David Mason in the Noble. Looked to be the fastest cup car out there today.
Was leading (cup class) in the first race until hit by a misfire, cleared after a while and stormed back up behind the new lead, misfired again, and again ....... then finally dropped to third in class on the last lap. Problem apparently caused by excess heat leading to an overheating ECU - fan fitted in the break.
Second race, leading cup class again and pulling away comfortably. A little over ten minutes in dropped out of the running. Wheel collapsed with spokes broken and pitched Martin Short into a spin at (I think) 130mph. No significant damage done but a bit of a focussing moment I guess
. Even with doing only a fraction of the race still set fastest lap for cup class
.
Unfortunately this may be the last appearance of the car this season as apparently it is due to be going over to California.

Dailysportscar.com are reporting that the factory are starting to build an "M12 mk2" ready for 2005 (on both road and track by the sounds of it) using the lessons learned from the 2004 campaign. Major change will be the orientation of the engine. Rollcentre are likely to run the car again.

Can you confirm or deny that the transverse model will be road and track or just a racer? Or even if it is in the pipeline?
The quote from Lee Noble in the DSC story definitely says it will be a road car too. I won't copy his extensive quotes over as DSC is a pay-site, but their story gives fuller technical details and ideas of the numbers they want to build and their plans for 2005.

Guy - Is it a reworked M12 or a new model?

It's alledged to be based on the M14.
