No readout on my fuel guage

Hi Fellas,
My fuel guage does not work but I have ruled out the guage itself as the needle does move of the stop when I start her up. I got a feeling its the connectors on top of the fuel tank but don't know for sure.Has anyone taken out a fuel tank on a GTO 2.5? and if so how hard or easy is it? Also is it possible to get to the connectors on top of the fuel tank without having to drop the fuel tank

If the connectors fail or it's disconnected the gauge usually reads full... If the sensor itself has failed it's a tank out job to replace it.

You can get to connectors on top of tank... It's hard though and means contorting your hand.

Thanks for the advice. From what you've said it sounds like a tank out job as the guage is not reading any fuel eventhough I have put in £40.00 worth. I've only just bought the car and the previous owner had work done on it which required the tank being moved about thats why I thought it was the connectors on the tank that had not been replaced properly. if the tank has been disturbed try the connectors first... it may be connected the wrong way around.

they are a nightmare but you can swop them around as I have had to do this myself when I fitted mine wrong lol

They are push on electrical spade connectors. Top right of the fuel tank (looking at it from the back)

Have you tried reversing them?

When this happened to me, I ignored it and it fixed itself.
