Just arrived back from DenmarK at Harwich and picked up the noble from kerridges in Ipswich.

Beauty of a 2nd hand buy is you don't have to run it in...hence I could experience the front end raising experience of full to floor throttle (my eldest son liked it too).

Unfortunately the wife and 2 youngers were trailing in the volvo and wanted a guide, so the experience was limited to short bursts to the horizon followed by slow coaching for her catch up.

I'm grinnning from ear to ear (not dampened by the slow puncture it has already picked up, nor the b*@@"!y stiff petrol cap which is near impossible to remove)

and the best bit is that she clears the high speed bumps in the train car park...2 rides a day, every weekday...what more fun could one have to prepare and wind down from work (I can't think)

For those tracking prices...I paid 29.5 privately for a 10.5k mile mar02 2.5ltr model, including a full 12000 service performed before collection (cost £650)...near trade money I'm told...kerridges were asking 36k and expecting 33.

Hello nobility...I'm in!

95% sure yes, a deal is shaping up, so just hoping to get a few more quid for a private sale, although trade-in value isn't bad, i think prices have started to hit a floor around the 30k mark (it's a hell of a lot of car for that sort of money!). Only possible fly in the ointment is if a low mileaga 996TT X50 turns up in the next week or so OR i get tempted by the 355 spider i'm going to see at the weekend

Re photo - I should hope so, i had to cut the lawn specially that day!

thanks for the welcome

re: ECU I haven't opened up the rear yet to check...only possible reason for caring is for the potential power upgrade..she certainly runs smoothly and has been no problem with maintaining the revs.

looking forward to going home now.

you are right...it is a lot of car for the money...especially compared to similarly priced 2 yr old trevors...hence why I joined the nobility at this level...the M400 looks fantastic (they had one at kerridges) and I have yet to hear a single dissenting voice on its driving...but my first "new" noble will be a suitably powered (read twin turbo'd) take the roof off version for which i don't think we'll have too long to wait

Hope there is good CCTV in your station car park... I am always amazed to find my car undamaged when I return, on the few occasions I leave it in a public place.

Sadly not the line i have from the factory

First "entry level" GTC's won't hit the streets till next spring at the earliet, M14 taking priority, so a hot variant must be quite some way away?

there are about 10 911's, double that for boxters, countless TTs, M3s, and other exotica all using the car park...and all worth more money...but I guess the noble IS the one that stands out...I have even parked it in its own little parking spot flanked only by foliage, so no door banging problems anticipated.

if something happens I guess the insurance company will just have to deal with it...I can't spend any time worrying about it...I think i will reserve my spare work time thoughts for the regular pleasant drive home rather than the odd potential for vandalism.

and what a drive home...all country lanes and no traffic (why do people live in london?...oh better not ask that...cruising (?!) for admiring glances can have its pleasures I'm sure, but after 10 yrs in the big smoke I'll happily take the train and the country lanes.

cheers, morten

Hence my withdrawl from GTC waiting list and quicker entry into nobility...I was thinking late 2005/early 2006 wasn't too slow a turnaround for a brand new variant...but far enough away that I couldn't wait!

I leave mine all over the place. You get the odd hand print from people looking in, but that's about it. If it was a porker or a 'rarry I think it'd be different. It's that stereo-type image thing I guess.

Ha...it wasn't a slow puncture after all but a leaking valve (on the only wheel that didn't have a dust cap) took it round to the local wheel(er) dealer who replaced the valve and metallic cap for no charge...slipped them some beer money for their efforts as they didn't want to charge me anything...bargain.

Only thing now is the window which doesn't want to wind down...feels like its trying to crush earth through the mechanism...is it easy to open up the panel and do a little personal maintenance...advice anyone?

thanks, M
