If it honestly sounds and feels like a driveshaft or gearbox failure do not try and drive the car. Can you get it recovered to wherever normally does your work? The nuts are in the centre of the wheel and can lose torque, which leads to clonking, but nothing as significant as you are describing.

Well the good news is - if you managed to drive home your driveshafts are still connected and your gearbox works!

Then Im afraid to say that its probably your diff thats gone.

Its not a cheap fix.

get the gearbox refurbed and fit a quaife atb

its an engine out job - so you may as well fit a new clutch and valve springs at the same time
