Second hand prices in the USA
Discussion
Does anyone have any data on resale value in the USA? The only data I have is the Noble on ebay right now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6472&item=2488620711&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
I was told one went for $96K on ebay some time ago.
If I buy this car and for some reason I have to sell it in a years time how easy will it be to sell and how much will I get?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The car seems to be assembled by Horsepower House in Kentucky. They have great reputability TMK.
I do not know what typical resale should be.
There is no waqy for somebody to tell you how easy/difficult it would be if you wanted to sell.
It's a bold move to buy a car like this. Not everyone recognizes it's value and the price is just high enough to significantly reduce the amount of people who will afford it.
My advice wuold be to buy the car in hopes that you wuold never want to sell it.
Find out what you want and how much yuo want to pay and go for it!
I'd be interested in the available resale market ... but you have to keep in mind these cars are often selling because Noble has something better. Maybe you'd be happier with a better version. Although, I do believe that ebay is a gt03r, so that is pretty darn good.
Check out the other threads ... and or find the link to the resale market at piston heads.com .

After speaking to 1gracing and receiving an order form. A Noble M12 would go for $90 after powertrain, AC, Radio, etc... It's looking like $75K for an almost brand new one. This is VERY much like the V8 Esprit prices.
I will probably go into a used one if they remain at those used prices in the US.

I agree it would be an amazing bargain if the price was 75k$ ... BUT .. as the saying goes "looks can be decieving".
That is a starting bids price range your seeing. The reserve price is not met. Expect the reserve price to be more towards 90k$.
You can try to contact the seller to see what they would sell it for ... but often times they do not disclose. However, for a rare car like this .... I think they would giev an accurate answer.
Give it a try if you want. Use the "contact seller" link.
That's true. I forgot about the reserve price. I am VERY serious about a Noble but I'm still trying to do more research on V8 Esprit Ownership vs Noble M12 ownership in regards to Maintenance, Parts, Comfort, Modifying, Sitting in Traffic, Daily Driver, LONG distance driving. I've searched these threads and did find bits of info but would love to speak to someone who has owned both for quite some time. I'm getting off topic but this would solidify my decision. Test driving one is NOTHING like true ownership... I've made that mistake before... I wonder if I should start a new thread.
Thanks
Thanks
I know exactly what you mean.
I am still contemplating building my wn kit car or buying a Noble. I keep telling myself that I would much rather buy the Noble ... but ownership experiences is a great great difference from paper documentation and test drives and video clips.
Joust has a decent log of maintanence at his site. He sems to have a lot of overheating issues .. and maybe several other issues .. with his 2.5 t25 combo.
I am not sure if they were finally resolved or not .. for good.
It is not uncommon to find a very great car that has specific serious issues that need to be identified and addressed ... and that may not be identified until ownership and repair experience etc.
That why I LOVE the idea of the internet forums. I'd say, if you can't find a more popular and more informative forum about both vehicle .. then stick around and learn what you can.
Let me know if you find any more forums for the Noble.
Good luck with your decision!

I'm thinking that color was definitely a factor. The orange is questionable enough (buyers who go for that color tend to be rare...), but when I saw the interior color.. I thought they must have taken a picture from a different Noble and thrown it in! An aqua-blue (or whatever it is) really seems to clash...
I guess we'll see how my car does in a couple weeks when I put it up for sale. (A much more respectable Titanium, with black-grey interior combo). Mine has some additional tweaks (including ball-bearing turbo's) and I'm thinking the most valuable/differentiating aspect will be that it's the only California-registered/smog-exempt Noble. Guess we'll see how it goes. Financial/medical reasons are going to force the sale unfortunately
Best,
Marc

To set the record straight on pricing on a new Noble.....
I ordered one and it being prepped at 1G right now.
You can have a brand new Noble with leather, LSD, etc. for very close to $80K US not $90K. A very basic car that performs the same would be less.
Dean Turnbaugh (not associated with 1G)

Unfortunately, I have a sinking sensation that the color combo was real and that it came form a very corny movie caled "The Fast and the Furious" which featured Craig Lieberman's "riced out" supra with the orange pain and the blue interior accents.
Thst movie encouraged a lot of the most rediculous modifications to spawn out in the us (big wings on saturns and hondas and such and rediculous looking paint jobs on rediculous cars ... or cars that were made rediculous with these mods ). It also infected the spra enthusiast communit with a bunch of nonsesne because of the the overglorified supra in the movie with all of the corny acting.
The movie made millions billions ... and made the streets more saturated with bad drivers driving wrecklessly ... and encouraged the mst rediculous cosmetic modifications ever to be very common. Kinda sad.
Colors are just colors ... but I really do tihnk that that color combod was take form the fast and furiou spra. ook it up on the internet ... and you'll see what I mean.
Unfrtuante curcumstance there Marc. My sincre condolences. I am ure you'll get your life straight and buy another one sometime. Be optimistic.
Cool to see that I am not the only one who thought about modifications. I bet the ball bearing turbos were a great mod for spool up time and response ... thus improving performance and enhancing the strengths of the vehicle. I seem to be getting some stiff criticism from some people about my noticing the mod potential of the motor and car ... despite it's astounding performace in stock form.
I wonder what other mods you performed. Feel free to send me an email via my profile if you'd like to elaborate in private.
I do not think Dean's price quotes include labor at all.
Good questions Espirit. I see were you're going with those. I'd be interesed to see answers form Marc too.

Marc,
Sorry about hearing that you are going to sell the Noble. I had emailed you regarding your TT NSX in the past. My wife and I have a TT NSX and TT Noble.
The price is closer to 90K with engine installation. This includes: body, engine, accessories package for installation (which includes everything including the turbos), AC, starter button, leather, immobilizer, protectant film (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Also, have your installer run a hot and cold terminal from the battery just in case you ever need to jump start the car and lastly, a trickle charger if you ever store your car. I would not get the radio since it is a simple Sony head unit with Infinity speakers for $750. Much Much better is available for $750 (Eclipse CD head unit and Focal Utopia for $800 on EBAY). The above price does not include tax, title, etc.

The Utopia? Components, right? Where do you mount the tweeters? Is it easy to do? The vehicle is prewired for just 2 6.5" coax speakers, right?
As far as costs go, yeah, when it's all said and done, a fully optioned, assembled and delivered Noble could run you into the low 90's. I'm sure someone could order a stripped-down version and get it for less, but I personally believe the "options" on the car are must-have.
I'll be basically looking to get what I put into the car. Mine's "better than new"
since it's had the bugs worked out by being driven and is fully California registered. By the way, there's no such thing as a Noble that won't have some bugs in the first 2k miles as far as I can tell
. (Mine just hit 3k miles).
Anyone who is in California & interested in buying my Noble, feel free to email me. Serious only though please.
>1) How does it deal with traffic (heat!!)
>2) Long distant Journeys?
>3) Overall maintenance?
1) Does just fine. My Noble is the only car I own - it's my daily driver. I live in the San Fernando Valley (ie, it's been 100+ degrees for the past week or so) and commute with it. On a side note, I was just thinking to myself this morning during commuting how nice it was that you can put the car into 1st and take your feet off the clutch/gas and the car will move forward smoothly without stalling -- even going up a hill. Made for very hassle free bumper-to-bumper driving.
2) Haven't done much in the way of long-distance (1.5 hours has been my max) but the seats are plenty comfortable to me. Now, if you're talking about a long drive for a trip or something, I could see the lack of luggage space getting in the way depending on the length of trip & number of occupants..
3) The car isn't too hard to work on, but you're also not dealing with a car from a major auto manufacturer so if you're expecting Honda-style maintenance, this probably isn't the car for you. Now, buying a used Noble where the owner has already done the "tweaks" and gotten the car into perfect order -- that's the ticket!
.
Best,
Marc

The Utopias are component. I mounted the crossovers in the inside of the doors. I used the tweeter pods for surface mount and drilled hole through the inside of the door to mount the tweeter. The woofer is in the door. I used Dynamat in the doors to tame some resonance and now there is pretty good bass. I don't miss a subwoofer (Had planned on putting one behind the passenger seat). The tweeter is between the speaker hole and the pocket. I can post pictures if there is interest. Very easy.

I'd love to see it. Thank you very much!
My 2-ways (JL Audio XR650's, see www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=XR650CS/DYN10415 ) were fitted in much the same way. The crossover is mounted inside the door, rear of the speaker hole - this required drilling a couple of holes in the fibreglass to hold the crossover. The tweeters are mounted onto the interior piece.
I've now had a sub box made and fitted behind the drivers seat (I'm a short-arse) which isn't as easily removable as I'd like (you have to take the seat out!), but does improve the sound considerably. It's got a Phase Linear 10" driver, as these don't need a lot of box air it work well.
The amp is a Genesis profile four fitted low on the bulkhead behind the driver; the sub box covers this and makes it look a lot neater.
