new car purchase about to happen
Discussion
guys,
thoughts??? i have a refundable deposit down for a week or so. I have test driven it already but it had a couple of issues they are sorting, got another drive before xmas to see if all is good then it could be mine. Could still pull out if i wanted.
Its a Beck 'Porsche 550 Spyder' replica. unlike many of the old porsche replicas it is not a beetle chassis with a new shell. They have copied the original chassis and suspension design closely. disc brakes front and drums rear. the whole car is very much true to the originals. It has a 1.6 flat four VAG engine on carbs (VAG still build them in Brazil). It is a brand new car with delivery miles. built in 2010 then imported to the UK. free tax as officially registered as being manufactured in 1957 (no idea how they get away with that!!!)

of course it won't be like the noble to drive but i have a Noble for that.

That is very nice. Guess all depends on what you want from a car. Lazy sunny days and the odd classic car show are all good fun……provided you have something else to set the adrenaline flowing.
Going to do something very similar myself. I am having a 356 Outlaw built over the next 4 months. Looking at something in the Emory style. Due to the expense of the original Speedster we will use use a mix of VW, fabricated kit and 356 parts. Given the history of the 356 the project should be close to the original Outlaw and have all the charm.

cheers for the comments. I love anything le mans from the 50s to the 80s and as i'm nowhere near being able to afford the real things. I saw this when looking at 356 speedster replicas. Its so impractical but too good looking to ignore.
I'm fortunate enough to have a few toys to get my speed buzz so all this needs to do is look cool and drive 'ok'. At 600kg i only need to get the engine up to about 100bhp for it to be serious good fun
