Anyone in West Sussex?
Discussion
Anybody near Horsham who wouldn't mind taking me out in their Noble? Have already had a word with Bondy but he is still a little jaunt away down in Bognor but he has said there may be some guys nearer? Obviously weather dependent! Have decided I fancy a 3R and haven't even been out in one yet

Thanks, yes I have been into Mole Valley a few times to have a look however I'm only 21 so I have a feeling they wouldn't think I'm serious. I also am not looking to purchase for at least 2 months so don't want to seem like a timewaster. I much prefer an owners opinion and advice as opposed to somebody just trying to sell me a car if you get me?

How deep are we talking? See reliability questions appear to receive mixed responses, some people say very expensive and others say they aren't that bad! I don't do many miles per year however trips to the ring would be likely! Do things tend to go wrong once modified? I was planning on buying one with slight mods circa 400bhp? Would this be a bad idea? Cheers for the responses!

I'm in the "aren't that bad camp". Don't be put off - ownership costs will be similar as for any non-exotic high-performance Sports Car. Most of the parts are British/German and in production. When well cared for they don't tend to fall apart al la TVR (and before anyone starts I've owned two of Blackpool's finest)

Usually if something breaks after someone has increased the power its because they haven't strengthen some other component of the car that wasn't designed to take the extra force in the first place (such as the gearbox)Just check to see whats been changed on the car and let us know on here. These are reliable cars and parts are pretty inexpensive don't worry.
I think it depends what you would consider excessive with regard to running costs?
I recently did a rough calculation of what I've spent on mine over 4 years and 16k miles. Genereal service work and a few mods, I stopped adding when I reached £16k. Then of course there's insurance and fuel on top of that.
But I don't think £4k a year is too bad considering the type of car it is, though I'd expect these cars to now start needing more and more work as they're getting old.

Hope you don't mind me contacting you Ross. I have a really nice 3 litre M12 GTO for sale.
Currently on sale or return in garage in Godalming. The car could be sold by him with warranty and finance available or cheaper from me direct.
It's a 24500 mile car in indigo blue in lovely condition.
Please let me know if you are interested.
Cheers

At first I didn't want to go down the modding route. I just wanted a reliable car. But it's becomes an addiction!
I didn't do many miles in mine either. But every trip to the track ended up eventful for one reason or another.
In the two years of ownership, off the top of my head and I'll try and seperate that from the modding side of things, I needed to:
Replace the floor (£600)
Replace the brakes, hubs, bearings, 2 skims (£3000)
Replace the radiator (£1000)
Replace various hoses (£100)
Replace the chocolate towing eyes (£60)
Replace the bent wheels (£1000)
Do the tunnel mod to stop the cabin being so hot!(£60)
Replace the suspension plus corner weighting (£1400)
Replace corroded rear light housings (£100)
Replace front and rear manifolds (£1200)
Replace corroded oil breather (£200)
Prices are approx but will give you an idea.
I'm not trying to put a downer on your purchase and perhaps I didn't have the best of experiences compared to others.

That's cool, and I'm thankful to have peoples opinions so I can make an informed decision! Quite a bit you have spent there and its just come back up for sale! Didnt take too long! Wish he would hold onto it for a few more months lol I didn't do many miles in mine either. But every trip to the track ended up eventful for one reason or another.
