I have been reading the powertrain thread - trying to figure out which options to add to my engine install in the states.

I am going to use the car "nearly" as a daily driver - I have not taken any driver training - i am going to - and will not be on the track (well maybe a few times) - I may get addicted.

One of the companies offering to do the install offered the following options - which would you recommend and are there any others - I am on a budget so want to just get the most beneficial ones in:

Replace turbo silicone drain hoses (recommended)
Labor: $150.00

Fuel Tank heat barrier film

A friend installed a Deltrans Smart Tender which allows you to plug the car right into a normal power outlet (and stay plugged in indefinitely if you want -- w/o overcharging). Very easy to use apparently.

Feedback would be appreciated.

To be honest, I can't see one thing I'd go for. I use mine almost every day too. I've had no problem doing so.

Ok, you might want to go for some of the performance increasing bits later on (like shocks) but most of the standard items are really good anyway, and I'd say you'd probably be wasting money not trying the car for a while first.

Your list looks like something from Greg Robb. We had the turbo drain hoses replaced since there have been some failures, Fuel tank barrier and the switch in the tank outlet. I would also recommend the battery booster since it is virtually impossible to jump the battery safely and lastly, get the battery maintainer. We didn't get the maintainer but I did install one in the car myself.

Personally I would not do anything with the suspension IMHO. I tried this on my last car, a Lotus, and after the adjustments, it was horrible. I never quite got it back to original and regretted it.

The suspension has been set up by a professional, and I think it is fantastic. Why change it?

Just my few pennies worth.

Because its too soft for track and you'll be hitting the end stops Very nice riding for the road though.
