overheating

Hi there im having a bit of a prob with twin fans not coming on, no probs over the winter i live out in the sticks so not a lot of sitting around in traffic so dont think engine got hot enuff!! But sat in my first traffic jam 2day and when the temp gauge got to 110c i turned the engine off and let it cool down for half an hour.. Is it me being paroniod im sure the fans came on at about 100c during last summer and i thought even that looked a bit scarey! Is there a fuse for the fans somewhere i can check or a thermostate adjustment so i can get them to come on a bit earlyer?

If its a 2.5 the there is a thermal switch offside front just before the pipe goes into the rad. They do fail. I went through loads so wired in a switch for safety until I upgraded my ECU. Now it's ECUncontrolled

They never ever come on?

Check the big fuse, mine stopped working and it turned out one had seized. On the 2.5 (not sure about others) both fans go into the same fuse so if one fails it blows the fuse and they both stop working.

Easy way to check is unplug the leads from the sensor and then short the two terminals together, this show make the fans work.

I case they are seized, give them a spin before u do the short.

Thanx for your replys its a 2.5 liter model and i got a auto electrician fitting a new stereo 2morrow so will show him your posts and get him to check it out
