Adjust the shoes so the wheels still spin freely then tighten up the cable. Access hatch on the passenger side of the centre console behind the seat

I would definately recommend taking off the discs and inspecting the shoes rather than just adjust through the access holes. Mine had detached due to poor adjustment and would have wrecked the discs had I not caught it in time. My symptoms were just a poor handbrake and occasional scraping noise. I also found the dealer had just tightened up the cable to reduce the slack rather than manually adjust each wheel. Once I replaced the shoes and adjusted properly they have been faultless in six years.

I'm trying to sort my handbrake problem and have minimal pad left as it seems to have been rubbing on the inside of the disk at some point. Does anyone know the thickness of the pad when it's new? I only have about 1mm of pad left and I'm sure that's not right?

My new shoes had around 5mm from memory. As far as I know they are factory / dealer only.

Oh wow, 5mm down to about 1mm so I guess they have been rubbing. No wonder they do absolutely nothing at all.

Thanks for the offer simon I'll have to let you know as I'm thinking of getting them relined with something better. Out of interest how much of the lining is left on your shoes?
