Does anyone know how wide the rear of the car is? The wiki just has the width including mirrors and I want to know outside to outside on the rear wheels for trailering.

Brian James tilt bed are superb for Nobles,Ifor Williams do a variation of this also or any low slung trailers with longer ramps ,I had to have longer ramps made for my tri axle beaver tail job due to loading clearance which still does the job OK but it has under-slung beam axles on 13" hi load spec tyres which makes it higher .

Just make sure what ever you buy is well braked and the tow vehicle has the
tow capacity to do the job circa 1600kg to 2000kg and the car will have to be reversed on due to the obvious engine in the back weight issue no more than 500kg on the tow pin .Been pulled by VOSA once with my Land-cruiser behind the RV gave me the full monty hitch weight, axles weights bla bla passed but added an 11/2 hrs to the journey .

I have a madza 6 for pulling and its rated at 1600kg so that's OK. Also as I'm only 28 I have BE, C and C+E so they can't winge at that.

How do you measure the amount of weight at the tow pintle? I suppose if you make sure the centre of gravity is as close to the middle of the 2 trailer axles as possible then it will be OK.

Looking at the ifor and Brian James ones that have a MAM of 2000kg so should be able to carry 1550kg. Means i can put heavier cars than the noble on it if needed.

Read somewhere about the rated towing capacity of the car not being law just a manufacturers reccomendation with possible insurance issues if you have an accident towing over that weight. Not that I'm going to but I just wondered.

Sensible way to do it is go down to a public weight bridge with the car on the trailer drop the jockey wheel put a jack under the rear of the trailer first so it doesn't tip up obviously ,then adjust the car on the trailer until you get 500kg on the jockey wheel the trailer wheels will have to be off the weight bridge off course just the jockey wheel on the weight plate. Then mark where your wheels are ,hook it all up then weight the whole lot and the car on its own .get tickets printed then laminate them for all stages carry with you when ever you tow if you get a tug from plod they will take them in good faith but with a your choice of tow car you will be right on the limit wink

Remember to have all your kit in the car that you will use on race day when you weight it all.

During the summer months VOSA work their road side emporiums to catch any unsuspecting tow bod check their web site you should be able to find their static inspection areas if you have to pass them en route keep it safe they can impound if they see fit more than 10% over on an axle and they have a hissy fit and present you with lots of paperwork.

I'm guessing at the noble and trailer being about 1500kg so within the mazdas pulling weight but will have to do the tow pintle weight.
Any track day bits should be OK in the boot of the Mazda I would of thought, don't carry to much really, couple of tools and a few fluids.

Biggest thing is me looking in my early 20s so not only looking like I've stolen a noble but they will think I'm probably towing on a normal B licence.

If it helps you get it into perspective I tow my Landcruiser or Wifeys Voyager on the Tri-axle trailer behind our 18t 12m RV which is done bang on as I described they still pull me when it so apparent I have the stopping power of air brakes on the RV and tri -axle braked trailer .Three kart meetings in the North West last year when I took the LC and I got three pulls.

Been to Monaco and back and not pulled once biggrin

The ifor CT136TA is 495kg
The BJ 100-0420 is 450kg

So as long as the noble and trailer dont exceed 1600kg then the loaded car and trailer dont exceed the max train weight, which I'm not sure what that is at the minute, then I should be OK.

ask them for weights with one spare wheel plus ramps nerd if its on standard car derived tyres or 6/8 ply rated tyres. on car derived my advice is to carry two spares plus trolley jack wink .You will be using four wheel ratchets to secure car to trailer down ?

I'll have to see once its on the trailer and weighed. Worst case I change the Mazda for something with a higher towing capacity which isn't to much of a big deal as I don't really like it anyway haha.

Your vehicle should be circa 1560 to 1600 kg kerb weight with gross of 2200 you will be down to the bare bones imho if you get a pull
they might give you 10% leeway if they are in a good mood after a long day if they catch you at the start of a shift keep a bible in your glove box biggrin.
But its your insurance you need to clarify also its been a fav plod/vosa trick to check your insurance cover road side now once they catch you over weight they can nick you for no cover and impound your trailer/car and have it recovered at your expense.
If you have stated weigh bridge tickets you have shown due diligence to your cause.

Just buy a Landcruiser or something that has a kerb weight of about 2000kg or nearing ,no worries then you can take beer to the track and a tent.laugh

Im looking at getting a Q7 to replace the a3 and do the hard work, I believe they are 2300kg, so maybe 2500kg loaded up, if my noble and a trailer come to 1600kg that takes me up to 4100 which i believe is just over the limit on my licence, how likely is it ill get hassle? id rather not have to do another driving test but if it needs done then hey ho.

The test is easy TBH it far out weights the fines point impounding time in court and sat at the side of the road as and when you get caught void insurance ect ect you really dont want to get caught without the correct licence then their is the serious amount of piss taking on here if we find out biggrin

The Mazda has a max train weight of 3590kg so if the trailers at its max of 1600kg and the curb weight is 1600kg then that leaves 400kg for me and kit. Should be doable and not go into any 10% allowances

kerb weight is less fluids driver passenger ect gvw 2200kg with every thing on board ,you will also need to check your axle weights on the vin plate this could give you even more room to ponder you need the car to weight 2000kg to tow 1500 kg you can only tow 3/4 of cars ladden weight.
