Got back from a weekend away, went to open the car and.....Nothing.
Tried both alarm remotes again nothing, the led on the steering cowling is flashing, so assume not a flat battery. anyone had this problem?? Any suggestions!!
That light 'll still flash with a very flat battery. Been there...
Just charge it and it'll be fine. Strange that it should die in one weekend though.
sounds like the car is in "the usual location", but you may not be aware that some wireless networks can cause disruption to auto remotes...
I had such a problem at a mates house on my alfa whereby we had to open the car with the key (rather than the remote) and with the alarm blaring I was thankfully able to drive the car 100 yards down the road where the key fobs remarkably worked again. back at my mates house to pick up the wife and kids they no longer worked.
spooky, but true.

Alex, if this is the keyfob signal being blocked, then I think I have had something similar happen to me.
I was filling up at a petrol station, locked the car to go and pay, and when i came back I couldn't open it. Maybe the petrol station had a mobile mast or one of them there new fangled aerial things in its roadside sign but all attempts to blip the alarm were futile.
However I remebered reading a post about this in General Gassing (which at the time I thought was a wind up) about putting the keyfob near your ear (link below), and it worked - which was nice.

I had one of those wireless video sender units in my house that used to play hell with the car alarm on my last car. Keyfob not working properly and false alarms in the middle of the night. No real pattern to it though, except as soon as I ditched the video sender - no more problems !
I've seen reports of wireless doorbells doing the same thing.
