Rear wing on the Noble

Noble owners.........at what speed does the M12 rear wing create downforce?

Does anyone run the car without it?

As a road car.......does it make any difference to the rear grip to not run it? (i.e., legal ish speeds...)

Yes a few, I ordered my M12 sans wing from new - looks better IMHO
IMHO, not needed on the road at all - just adds weight.

I only ask because I have always wanted the Noble since I was taken for a ride in one about 10 years ago. It's just now, at 37, for me the wing wasn't 100% to my taste. Do you have a picture of your car without it?

I'm just scanning classifieds for something to replace M3 with.

I'm getting a Disco 3 for everyday use...........and know i'll miss the M3 performance etc etc

Also, don't forget that there's a wing integrated into the rear clam anyway. Not sure that it does much either though.

As standard Nobles are totally rear aero balanced, taking it off sorts that out somewhat! The car is slight less composed under braking over 120MPH though.

Graham just the wing only , diffuser and any other aero bits are add ons .

Never understood this rear ward aero balance , the car needs more rear end grip especialy at speed so why is more aero balance a problem ?

Never understood this rear ward aero balance , the car needs more rear end grip especialy at speed so why is more aero balance a problem ?

a stock car has rear biased aero in the tunnel, of cause the values are not that great so not that noticable.

if you want more rear downforce my wing at 5 deg develops 99kgs at 100mph and 321kgs at 180mph.

I would check that the front of your car is lower than the rear, in the wind tunnel 5mm of made a huge difference.
Do you really think the back of your car is loose at speeds that the aero is going to make a difference?

Hi Adrian , everybodys car handles different , some people prefer a loose rear , me i like the back to feel planted , The car has been to Center Gravity in the last month for a full chasis setup and the angle of the car has been changed by yes you guessed it 5mm at the front !!
Car felt superb yesterday at both low and high speed although i struggled to get the correct tyre temp .

Andy - how did you measure that - with a strain gauge ?
