Fun Cup Update

Last weekend saw us at Snetterton. The lads travelled up Thursday morning and watch the end of a Ferrari owners track day with a cold beer in hand, while I finished a day at the Royal Cornwall Show, then hot footed up to Norwich. 6hrs later I got there. Lack of sleep due mainly to my team mates snoring was not a great start, but we got signed on and we all had 2 x 20min sessions. Not a lot for such a technical track as the 300. So it proved as my morning season was not too bad I felt there was a much better lap out there but time ran out. It was 4:30pm before I had chance to get out again and it was dreadful. So much so that I questioned what the hell I was doing!! I couldn't keep it on the track and the more I threw it off the track the more frustrated I became. Two white and black flags shown to me made me come into the pits and check the car. All ok off I went, focused and ready, on the warm down, trying to make the most of the time I went off at Hamilton and right off at Oggies. Back in the pit, "could car 62 please report to race control" b
king handed out, apparently driving around the circuit swearing at yourself is not enough, so you have to see the head master
Race day and our pit crew was reinforced by Mike, a Noble owner who was only coming up to watch, was drafted in to help. Top bloke and did a great job, I recon he enjoyed himself, thanks again Mike.
We got pulled out of the hat in 5th place, great start and we put Chris in to start due to him having a shoulder problem and giving more time to recover for his next stint. We quickly dropped to 22nd then up to 20th before we changed. I took over and felt much better after a good qualifying season. We got ourselves up to about 15th when I pitted. We pushed on to about 13th with Dave driving, then dropped to about 15th, I was having fun, and pushed us up to 11th. We could have pushed harder for 10th but Dave was feeling the pressure of running the last 40mins of a 5hr race and drove like Miss Daisy. So we came 11th out of 24 starting, not too bad!!
The highlights of our Donington action are being televised in motors tv at 12.10pm Wednesday, look out for car 62 pushing the front runners in the third heat after the safety car
We also got team of the morning and were the first team on the podium.

I'm not sure I helped that much but I certainly enjoyed myself, the racing was great to watch - who would have thought there could be so much difference in pace between 24 cars all with the same engine, all with 130bhp and the same bodywork. The lads did very well given the very stiff competition, first time round the track and Chris' dodgy shoulder.
Most importantly, Paul, Chris and Dave were very welcoming and great blokes to spend a day with - Thanks again for that.
Hope to catch up again soon.
Mike.

Just watched the coverage on motors tv.
I was surprised to see that the commentators first reference to you guys was that you had splitter damage. It's not as if you'd broken any at snetterton........!!!

I think we went through 5 at Donington @ £180 each!!!! Shame they didn't show our stint with the front runners. We were the guys in red suits on the podium.
Next round at Brands Hatch
A little clip from Snetterton, our friends CAT driver training are, like us, new to racing and felt they got driven into, let you decide, this is the start finish coming into a tricky right hander and no, I was not driving at the time.
