It had to happen sooner or later. In streatham today whilst waiting at traffic lights a generous gentleman decided to put his cigarette out on the front of my car. I just sat there and watched in amazement. I take consolation from the fact that he lit it up expressly to extinguish on the M12, so that bit of pleasure cost him 25p. Words cannot describe my mood at the moment..

I spent the day driving to Bristol and back, and had so much positive reaction to the car that something like this was bound to happen at some point.

Oh well, the few milligrammes of paint that were removed will make the car just that little bit lighter, improving my power to weight ratio - got to think positive..

Bugger.

I was so tempted to go and have a word with him Mr F...

Steatham can be a funny place though. So I decided to play safe. I'm angry with myself for bending over and taking it now though, but you just never know with these kind of people. I decided it just wasn't worth the potential bother as I can always repair the paint..

C'est la Vie. Just before this happened I had a Saxo full of maxxers filming me as I went through Brixton, giving me the thumbs up and generally appreciating the car. Talk about extremes..

I've just opened a bottle of Vino and intend to toast my cigarette friends ongoing good health...

Cheers

Mike

Cheers Dan. My thoughts exactly. Tempted to give Mr Zertec a quick call if it's going to be paint on the front though..

Loving the Noble today - it was driving soooo well - seems to be getting better and better with more mileage - up to 12k now.

Spent Saturday looking at Porsche GT3's with a mate. He bought a lovely red one. A fantastic car all round, and if I had the means I would be so tempted.. But the Noble just keeps me smiling. Blimey, I hope I never have to make a choice like that!!

Have been posting in the Porsche forum - maybe not the best choice of post title though - but they have mostly taken it in the spirit intended.

I really like the GT2. Proper hairy Porsche

Don't think I could ever see myself owning one though, other cars that do more for me at that price. Depreciation has been cliff like too (not suprising given the margin porsche make on that model (alledgedly highest margin of any 911 and by some distance)).

Thanks Smuudge - nutters everywhere these days!

if this had been a movie I'd have jumped out of the car beat him to a pulp, with a really witty final line about "smoking being bad for your health" (close up on the hero - me) then picking up a lovely blonde as I roar into the distance. Cue credits.

Reality is that he sticks a blade in me and the only reason anyone calls the police is that my body is blocking the road and someone can't get his Nissan tossmobile around my corpse to get wherever it is he is going.

Reality sucks. At least I can dream about the movie ending.

Thank you to everyone for your posts - much appreciated guys.

As the front of your car had already been damaged by this mindless pr1ck I would have put into first and driven straight over the cnut. I kid you not.

Most of the scum who vandalise cars are cowards who only do it when the owners are not around. For someone to do that when you are actually sitting in it amazes me.

I know its different when your actually there but there are far too many incidents that go on in broad daylight and people are just allowed to get away with it.

I hope the w4nker gets lung cancer.

Mike, you did the right thing - unfortunately, much as you'd (and all of us would've) loved to have remodelled the miscreants' ankles with our front splitters, restraint rules in these cases - you are alive and well (OK, temporarily mentally scarred but it'll pass!) and still own a superb motor!

At least you can wipe spit off.

The only thing it would give me pleasure wiping off the front of the car if it was me would be the guys face.

Thanks guys. I've had a look this morning and am hoping much of it will polish out. Looks like the useless barstewarding vandal didn't do too competent a job in ruining my P&J.

I for one fully blame Lee Noble's mechanical pencil and drawing board for this incident. I've spoken to my lawyers and they think the fact that the pencil and drawing board were used to design such a good looking vehicle which catches everyone's attention puts them clearly in the frame.. I'm willing to settle out of court for a nearly new M400 Lee if you're listening... ;-)

Poor old car - sad thing it is probably my tax which has in part funded my halfwit friends habit in the way of endless giros.

All your posts much appreciated guys. I'm drawing a line under this and filing under 'Avoid Streatham at all costs in the future'

Cheers

Didn't you know - that's what all us local have done for years now!

(Even when I have to go through it to get to the West End I drive around it, and Brixton come to think of it!)

If you are doing the A23 again, from South do

As you come up to Streatham common on your right (after the Sainsburys and the ice rink) take a right into Streatham Common North (A214)

Go to the lights (pedestrian crossing) and take a left into Valley Road (watch out for the bumps - all but one you can take the "square" humps straight over - the one you can't is obvious and just take the "middle" part)

Go straight across at the next lights (junction with Leigham Court Road)

Take the left (lots of bumps - but it keeps you out of the pikeys area) into Leigham Vale

You then come into Tulse Hill, take the left at the lights, then follow the A204 signs.

Reverse is the same.

Misses out Streatham, and there is always bugger all people around. Plus it's 10-30 mins quicker depending on traffic
