Comments on R1R?

Today I will finally receive my Noble after the differential has broken and a new Quaife has replaced the open diff.
The tyres are close to their legal limit, and need replacing.
I was thinking about the Toyo R1R's as I really enjoy them on both the Mini Coupé and my track day BMW 325.
Searching the Noble forums I found an older thread where people where going to try them, but no posts regarding experience with them.
The Noble, BMW and Mini all have a similar weight, but the power and tyre sizes differ quite a bit.
Does anybody who uses/used the R1R's on their M12 want to share their opinion?
I only use my Noble in the dry and on the road, not on the track.
(Only exception is that it will be used for a charity event on Assen, mid July.)

I have used R1R's for three years now, first on my MX-5 now on the Noble. They have good grip and progressive breakaway. I have to say, though, that I like going on track in the wet as well as dry. What sold me on them was that one day a guy in a more powerful but similar car to mine was easily faster in the dry on his 888s in the morning, but it turned wet over lunch and he spun off three times trying to keep up with me in the rain. There may be better dry weather tyres, but for all-round usage, I'll stay with R1R's.
Not a Noble, but i used to swear by T1-R's, had them on my TVR Chimaera, Evo 5, loads of performance vehiles and they were excellent.
I then put them on a Saxo VTS track car and they were absolutely awful, not for grip, but for roll, they made the back end feel like it was having a tank slapper in the sidewall flexed.
So i'd say that as long as you are keeping the sidewall profile low (like 40 ish) they would be an excellent choice, but for larger profiles, try something with stiffer sidewalls.

I need to replace my tyres soon, and was also wondering what to get.
Currently I've got Pirelli P-Zero Rossos.
What about Bridgestone SO2s / SO3s? Not sure of respective availability.
I thought Toyos were only Y speed rated. Don't we need Z rated?

Most of my mileage will aim to be dry, but of course if you're caught you need wet performance too.
And wear durability is important, as I don't want them trashed after one or two track days.

I have toyo proxes TR1 fitted to mine and i like them, they inspire confidence imho
they have done many miles on a rolling road and have never been a problem ( perhaps the tyre pressures were not correct on the ones that got ripped i suggest 45/50 psi for the Dyno)

Jarcy - I have P Zero Rossos too and they are amazing in many respects.
They hardly seem to wear at all
They are so predictable and friendly on track
Mine seem to wear spectacularly evenly
No idea about in the wet as refuse to take my car out unless it is sunny.
BUT I would quite like some more outright grip on track so am contemplating other options when mine eventually wear out.
Tux - do you rate the 888's over the Sport Cups?

Btw, the T1R is very different from the R1R.
Just replaced my T1R's with the R1R's on recommendation. Awesome on track 2 weeks ago, but did wear a little more than expected. By all accounts the R1R is very good in the wet - cant comment on that myself as not taken it out in the rain on them yet.Btw, the T1R is very different from the R1R.
I'm happy with them, but as with all these things its personal choice and may depend on car set up, nature of use etc.
Good evening all. I am not a fan. The R1R may be an. "Ok" all rounder, but has a very vague feel on the road. I drove an M12 today with them on. Slight understeer on turn in, and feel like they want to break away on the exit. Plus I was there stood next to Hollowpockets' car when his new set de-laminated.
I would ever trust a set at high speed again after seeing that.
