had a track day at Thruxton today, went in the vx as the noise limit was 90db, took the Noble along to get noise tested and it recorded 86db at 4500rpm, I said you sure about that, he said you would have been allowed on track with that, so thought it rude not to smile
surely this cant be right?

My standard GTO3 was tested at 96db last week, normal test (45 deg / 1 metre from the tailpipe) at around 4500rpm.

Duncan, Thruxton is fast but a bit dull!

I'm at Goodwood on Monday, you should have signed up for that.

re db, mine is totally standard and is anywhere between 96db and 100db (that last one was Rockingham whose meter MUST be wrong as everyone else gets me at 96 - 98db)

86db is not right. Sure he didn't mean 96?

sounds very low but to be honest static testing on a Noble is a waste of time as they pretty much always pass its the drive by that's the killer !! on boost they positively bark , passed donnington static at 94 failed drive by at 102 !! had to spend the rest of the day short shifting frown

Simples, start racing and only have to meet 105 db, smile it's actually the same cost to race as it is do track days, you get a practice session and or qualifying (20 mins), then two twenty minute races for your money. Most track days people only do 4 or 5 sessions anyway and it's much more fun if there's a possible trophy at the end...

wink

Its a good job you dont have an NMS exhaust , im recorded at between 104-5 Db depending on which track i just been banned from going on!

desperatly need some sort of decibel killers for it!
